AUDI..........................

AUDI dominated 5 of the last 6 le mans races (2000,01,02,04,05) as they did in the
le mans endurance series and the American le mans series (ALMS), and they still doing
well in the DTM too....so as i see they done all the job they need to enter the
formula1 world!....but they didn't.
BMW done the same and after winning the le mans in 1999 they entered the f1 in
the next year with WILLIAMS, MERCEDES and i guess PEUGEOT too.

so why they done all the steps they need then they stopped, they have all the
experience they could need, beside they have alot of fans too.
and maybe WILLIAMS team is a good opportunity for them it's great to see a WILLIAMS-AUDI
or even just AUDI... honestly it will be awesome.
i know that winning le mans doesn't mean you are going to f1 but with a massive job
they did i think it should be a natural step for them, especially now after they
pull-out of the le mans and they only have one or two cars still running in the ALMS.

so why?... does anyone have any information about this.

i have been waiting since 1999 when was a rumor about audi entered formula1
will i hope they join f1 sooner.

Audi have a very strong racing heritage - and undoubtedly the VW group is missing in F1, compared to its market rivals.

I expect its a marketing decision - there is probably no strong evidence to suggest that presence in F1 = higher sales. And if it doesnt, then why be there? The investment is just so hugew these days, and the car market is shaky in any case.

I'd love to see audi in F1, they make phenomenal engines for their road cars.

Maybe, just maybe, VW might use Bugatti instead, as that has a great racing heritage. :)

why go to f1? especially in the state it is.
i'd rather be in things like DTM that pull huge crowds, have great racing and much less of the BS that f1 is week in week out.
and entering f1 would mean they'd have to a, cut back in other motorsports and b, get used to not winning for 5 or 10 years.

Auto Union Deutschland Ingolstadt

apparently :p

The DTM is the most competitve, exciting touring car championship in europe (and probably the world tbh) and its paced full of the manufacturers that matter to Audi - BMW and Mercedes.

Audi's market is the luxury and saloon car market. German cars are priceir than their UK, French and Italian equivelents, so if you want a german saloon you buy one of these 3. F1 I guess has a less specific sales focus (if that makes sense) for audi than the DTM.

I'd love to see it though! Admittedly the M5 is better than the RS6, but the RS4 is usually reckoned to be superior to the M3. So the performance would be close imo, eventually :)

Either your in or your AUDI

just testing my marketing scheme!

Nonetheless, as I see it, Audi are all ready in formula one and being rebranded to VW next season. GP3 is a mega thing!

I would like to see vw use the vw name, seeing as how its rivals toyota and honda use the parent companies name, Audi could be an add, or the engine name.

Surely if audi did join it would make sense to use the Lamborghini name, given the heritage

Well the brand they have with the most Grand Prix racing heritage is actually Audi, from the pre war Auto Union/Mercedes/Alfa Romeo battle, Bugatti participated in only one race in the fifties. When I think of Lambo racing heritage, I think of the crappy engines Lotus had in the early nineties, and when I think of VW motor racing, I think of Banger races with knackered old Beetles!

Well Porsche aren't actually part of the VW-Audi group, though they often work together closely.
