Minardi will leave Italy

A Red Bull-owned Minardi will move from Italy to England, the energy drink's 'motor sport advisor' Helmut Marko has said. The former Austrian F1 driver told Autosport that the camp previously owned by Paul Stoddart would not still be based at Faenza by the start of '08.

"I would say it's sure (both Red Bull Racing and Minardi) will be at one location. We can't move our (UK) wind tunnel."

The news appears to contradict Stoddart's earlier insistence that he would only sell the Italian based team if the future of the workforce was similarly guaranteed.

The sh*ts! They agreed with Stoddart when he sold the team that they would stay based in Italy. I guess there wasn't a time limit with that agreement, seeing as Marko mentioned 2008.
OR are they gonna see about shipping the staff from Italy to the UK too?

Well they could still change their mind afterwards. It's their team now (well after 1st November), so they if they choose to, unless Stoddy has a written clause / agreement that has to be adhered to by law, or it will go to court.

Problem is, they buy all the staff, and if they move the team HQ, and sack all the staff, they need to prove it's necessary and yada yada yada. All the compensation and probable litigation could cost more than could be saved by moving

well i guess we shouldve seen this coming ..Similiar to when Helmut Marko also sacked David Pitchforth and that other senior guy from Jag Racing.

Yes, contracts can be broken, but that ends in legal problems. Not Jenson style legal problems where a spoilt little brat isnt getting what he wants, but mjaor legal problems with a hundread workers are out of a job

P.S. Daivd Pitchforth and Tony Purnell deserved to be sacked. Look at how well Red Bull Racing have done under Christian Horner.

Minardi have some minor facilities in the UK already (look on www.minardi.it). would make more sense for them to be all in one place...
