Official 2017 Russian Grand Prix **SPOILERS with TORPEDOES**

Only a moronic Pratt would try to argue that overtaking isn't part of F1.

What we're trying to prove is that overtaking on it's own does not make an exciting race. Its's the persuit, ducking and diving, occasional wheel to wheel action and ultimately the anticipation which generates the excitement.

We just witnessed what largely a procession with the field spreading out... But even then there was climax.. The result was in doubt until the very last corner because although ultimately Vettel never got close enough to overtake he was relentlessly closing in the gap and no matter how small, he had a chance. And that in the end kept my attention.

I remember Monza 2003.. Apart from the opening lap Montoya and Schumacher never got wheel to wheel... But it was fascinating watching them trade fastest laps almost through the whole race only ever being a second apart... The tension was there even without a single overtaking attemp.

Last year at Abu Dhabi.. Hamilton backed Rosberg into the following cars... The overtaking move never happened but the tension and anticipation was immense.
