New Managing Director of Mercedes-Ilmor

DaimlerChrysler AG announced Thursday that Ola Kaellenius is the new Managing Director of Mercedes-Ilmor, which is responsible for the design, development and production of Mercedes-Benz Formula One engines.
DaimlerChrysler currently holds 85 percent of the shares; from the end of 2005 Mercedes-Ilmor will be a wholly-owned affiliate. Until now, Swede Ola Kaellenius has been working at McLaren Cars. In early 2003 he was appointed Executive Director of Operations with responsibility for the Mercedes-Benz SLR project as a DaimlerChrysler representative and employee.
At Mercedes-Ilmor Kaellenius is Managing Director with sole responsibility as of now.
Kaellenius joined the Management Associate Programme of the then Daimler-Benz AG in 1993. In 1995 he became head of the Controlling department in M-Class production in Tuscaloosa, USA. He changed to Engine, Exhaust Management and Electronic Engine Component Procurement in 2000 before being appointed Director of Powertrain Procurement with responsibility for all engine and powertrain procurement issues at the end of 2001. In early 2003, he joined McLaren Cars having been appointed Executive Director of Operations for SLR production by DaimlerChrysler.
