Not for the Grand Prix but for me! I'm going to take my digital camera with me but we're sleeping on a camping without electricity for us. So I'm afraid my batteries won't take much longer then thursday and friday. What can I do to save them or other tips? (and an extra batterie is about 60 euros :s)

that's a bit too late :-) It's a lithium-ion battery

This will probably get shot down as i know little about photography, but could you not take a little disposable or normal film camera with you for "still" shots, and concentrate the digital on the cars?

Due to the voting system in Germany, Governments are always made up of coalitions of different parties. At the last election, an almost unprecidented result saw the CDU/CSU (rough equivilant of the Conservatives) go into Government with the SPD (rough equivilant of Labour)

I presuming you need electricity to charge the battery or the camera (i haven't a clue about digital cameras or lithium-ion batteries). What you need to do is buy a hamster. Put the hamster into a running wheel. Encourage him to run, (how you do this is your business) hook up some complicated apparatus to the wheel that generates electricity. Bingo, solution found!

It may be a bit vague in points, but it should work.
Otherwise, just use the camera on Saturday and Sunday.

hey, tell me about it!

my digi camera just about held out for the 3 days at silverstone, but my camcorder battery ran out just as the drivers were coming through priory/brooklands on the truck for the drivers parade (i was sat at woodcote). so i quickly managed to put the camcorder away and get the camera out and take a couple of pics as they went past us at woodcote.

Couldn't you just pack the battery charger with you. I'm sure there will be power outlet near one of the stalls, just sit down next to it to 'eat lunch' or something and hook in!:-)

If you can switch off the lcd display on your camera, this could save some battery time.

Ok you won't be able to preview your pics, but at least you can take more photos.

Was going to say what nidge12345 said. You save quite a bit of power if you dont use the lcd

a lot of cameras these days have an LCD viewfinder rather than an optical one so if thats the case it makes no difference if your using the screen or the viewfinder

but if you can switch the lcd one off, and just use the optical one it might save some power.

dreams come trulli. i have a camera with a lithium-ion battery and i agree thei e unabalibilty is very annoying. What i would recomend is that you limit your photo taking and turn off hte camera when you aint using it. When i go out (taking pictures of steam trains admitedlty) i can take over 150 pictures on it without the battery going out. This is helped by

a) not using the viewfinder
b) turning it off when not in use

viewfinders take up a surprisng amount of battery energy. also the battery seems to almost recharge itself if u turn it off. Hope this helps and if there are any questions raised from the above please ask
