Finally an ozzie in the top 3. We haven't seen that for a while! It goes to show that these one qualifiers work very well!

If you're Australian :P

But yea, I think it's fantastic he's put himself up there. I sincerely hope he performs well, both for himself and Jaguar as a team.

Add to that, that Button was the first guy on the track, whereas JV had a good position from the friday quals.

button isn't that good
just jv is overatted - any1 could hav won the 97 championship in that williams with a bit of mental nerve about them

JV had an engine problem, though. He claimed that as he came out of the last corner, the car started sounding a bit rough. So perhaps he was down on power. The speed traps would verify that, as would the BAR technicians, I think.

why the hell do ppl always say, oh button outqualified jv, and rubens outqualified michael. it doesnt mean f all, for all we kno they cld be on totally different strategies.

orpheous, its meant as a bit of fun.

anyway, as morbid said, jv had ample opportunity and should have gone faster than button. but he was too slow.

and that is utter crap about jv saying his engine is down on power.

he is just finding excuses now, for his out bursts about button in the winter.

No, David Richards confirmed that Jacques had a problem in qualifying:

"We marginally underperformed with both cars today, Jenson because he was first on the track and Jacques with a technical problem, possibly an exhaust," he reasoned, "It's all too easy to look back on qualifying and wish you'd pumped out a little more fuel and run lighter, but I'm confident that our strategy is very sound for the race tomorrow."

There was another Aussie F1 driver I believe before Brabham and after Jones. He had 2 races for ... can't remember. Ligier is coming to mind though. I think he is dead now. I'm not quite sure. I could be wrong.

JV had his engined changed for the race because of his problem.

this JV vs JB thing is fun!

each race the fans of either driver get to make different excuses, its like being back at school and having to make up excuses for each day of missed homework hahaha :)
well im enjoying it, and still think JV is better!
