Bah, very sad news Gareth :(. Why is it over, because another dislocation would probably result in more severe injuries?

That's right, the more times you do it the easier it becomes to do it again. I could keep playing, and keep having my arm fall out, but I can't afford the surgery I would end up needing! Oh well, time to have some fun on the sidelines!

not that i've done any of these in probably the last 7 or 8 years, but:

1: badminton
2: cricket
3: table tennis
4: can't think of a 4th
5: or 5th

badminton is amazing, you hit it soooo hard, but it still only appears to fly in slow motion. a great athletic sport, really gets you moving and is a lot of fun. i really should get back into it...

cricket was good at high school because we'd play on the playgroun with those fake cricket balls made of thick plastic. we were only about 20 metres from the windows of the school so everyone's aim was to eithe rhit the windows or get the ball right over the school into the other playground :)

table tennis was fun but we didn't play it often enough at school.

oh yeah, rounders at primary school when i was 7-11 was really fun too, that can be 4th.

1. football/soccer

2. cycling
3. table tennis
4. ski-flying at Planica
5. snooker

I've been playing football in a club since I was five years old...that means for 15 years now. I love it and it's also a very versatile sport.
Cycling is my second passion. Unfortunately this sport has a bad reputation due to doping. But nevertheless it's a great and very challenging sport. I love mountain stages the most. The last two years I spend my summer holdays in the alps taking my bike with me. I climbed numerous passes...most of them between 1700 and 2000 m about sea level high. In two months I am going down there again...of course with my bike :) I already saw that the current Giro d'Italia also includeds some summits I plan to climb soon. I hope to achieve a bit more than last year's 10 000 metres in height this year.
Well, it's a really great sport...and I need no doping ;-)
As Muks said, table tennis is great fun and I love it. But we did not play it at school either...actually I play it only on holday.
Hm...never did ski-jumping myself ;-) but I am a fan of it...although many people I know say that it is boring. But did anyone of you see the world cup event at Planica in march 2005? The world record was improved several times...finally held by Romoeren at 239 m...this was one of the most thrilling sports events I have ever seen. Biathlon and downhill skiing are also nice.
And I adore snooker even though I am very moderate at pool billard which is much easier. But if you see Ronnie O'Sullivan's 5:20 min maximum brake in 1997 you'll love this sport, too :)

i bought a badminton set from Aldi last week. it had 4 racquettes, 3 shuttlecocks and a proper net with extendable metal posts (so you can adjust the height) and guy ropes to keep the net tensioned (is that a word?). it was only £6.99.

i set it up and played against my niece and sister for about 2 hours on thursday, it was wicked!

bargain and great fun!

I agree! There's nothing as good as playing pocket billiards ;)

that reminds me of a joke:

Q:"what's the difference between an egg and a w**k?"

A:"you can beat an egg..."

Which reminds me of a more Irish and wholeheartedly less politically correct version of that joke:

"you can beat the missus,......"
