Very good game, both teams trying to score and no dirty plays :). Great job from Klinsmann to have Germany play like they did throughout the World Cup, he was a great player and is showing he is a good coach. And Italy was just great, Cannavaro is magnificent on defense!

What a terrific game. Shame it wasn't the final. Both teams played the game how it should be and the ref let it flow which helped make it so much better.

Forza Azzurri!

Only slight shame was some of the Italian rolling around, then getting up again fine. That's how good a game it was, if I'm picking little things like that.

Unlucky for the Germans - it was hardly all Italy, and could have gone either way.

Well done to the Italians though - if France get through tomorrow, that could be one hell of a final... then again, Italy could just lock the door, and it'll be @#$%&, but we'll see. :)

I think you are being a bit picky with that one.

Best game of the tournament by a country mile and as for hardly all Italy. Check the stats.

Statistics:

Possession: Germany 42%, Italy 58%.
Shots on target: Germany 6, Italy 11.
Shots off target: Germany 12, Italy 6.
Corners: Germany 4, Italy 12.
Fouls: Germany 19, Italy 19.

can somebody explain me why there was a foul IN the keeper ''zone'' (sorry duno how its called exactly in english) and referee called free kick instead of penalty OUT of that ''zone'' ??? (2nd half-time i think, italian guy made a foul on Podolski if i remember well...)

it was a nice game, but you are kidding me if you think the referee make a good job.... it was ugly and completly in favor of Germany....
I dont like Italy or Germany but no doubt the team that played better wins and that is good

Statistically Italy shaded it yeah, and they had more chances - but certainly before extra time, either team could have won it - Schneider had the best chance of the entire game. The Italians had more chances, but non of them were really clear-cut. Perrotta (my man of the match) had a couple of one-on-ones, but he wasn't really going to score any of them - he was always having to lunge into the keeper just to get to the ball, let alone redirect it around said keeper.

You're right - on the night Italy were better, but it was a pretty damn even night all things considered.

They [the italians] were unlucky at the beginning of extra time, two shots off the woodwork! But had Lehmann beaten both times.

Brilliant match from what the bits I was able to watch, and those two goals at the end were fantastic

That referee seemed a fan of Germany!! despite it Italy clearly deserved the win.

As ROb3rt0 38 wrote, i was wondering the same thing.

Germany were awarded a free kick WELL INSIDE the 18yd box, in the 82nd minute, yet the referee never called a penalty, and made them take the free kick outside the 18 yard box.

Did anybody else see that?

Not crying about it, but i was a bit confused about the decision.

Is there something i missed, because that should have been a clear cut penalty.
