2x0 so far, and before you mention Adriano's goal it just compensates for the first play where Ronaldo was not offside (30cm clear) and would have scored ;-).

Now I just hope he takes Emerson and Cafu off, otherwise ...

Brazil was attacking but after the goal we settled on defense... we tend to do that, give up :\. Then we put on another attack and scored. Ghana is just disorganized ;).

If only Kaká would play for the team and not to score his own goals... (when he ran up by himself and could have given a sweet pass to Adriano behind the defense)

your complaining about Kaka when he is by far and away the best Brazilian player in the tournament so far?

"we tend to do that, give up"

So what position do you play in?

I don't think Ghana were the better team, but they certainly made a match out of it. :) Great to see. But Brazil looked comfortable throughout - the Ghanaian attack never realyl hooked up.

Funniest bit of the match: Brazil passing it around the back 4 at the crowd start jeering. Brazil think, "OK, let's go and score now"... and they do. lol, just like that.

I REALLY hope Spain get through tonight, because that will be a GREAT Q/Final match. :)

I really don't like brasil's attitude of "we are greater than thou" and so they don't even try properly and stuff.

Kaká has been good some times but he's just thinking too much of scoring a goal himself and forgets about the team. His role is not one of a top goalscorer. This game he played horribly, he gave the pass for the first goal and was involved in the second - which shows what he can do so well - but other than that he was just taking space on the field.

I play currently defender/forward, but until I was 15 I was a goalie. And I don't mean it as me giving up, of course, I meant we as in the Brazilian team. You could see that we settled for the game the way it was and started playing in our half of the field instead of pressing more to play on Ghana's side and have them constantly under pressure. A huge problem is that so many attacks come from behind Cafu (watch the replay of the game and see how many players come unmarked from his side and he doesn't get there in time) and we leave gaps, and Ghana goes forward with many players who move around a lot so it will open gaps, especially when you have a player failing to do his role (Cafu) and need to have other guys take care of their man and someone elses.

There was one time when Ghana got to our area and Lucio lost his guy and Juan had to let go of his man to make sure the forward wouldn't score. Luckily they didn't, when the guy had clearance from Juan, who slipped, Lucio was in front and the shot wasn't too dangerous.

I just think Cicinho is the clear choice for right wing back but doesn't play because Cafu has been there since 1994 (he only came in because Jorginho got hurt, and even back then he didn't know how to cross a ball) and is the captain. Parreira is too stubborn and won't change some things, I hope Gilberto Silva stays there replacing Emerson, he does the same job but much better and without playing like the Ghana players did, just going full speed and strength and body checking someone. Maybe bring in Juninho Pernambucano or Ricardinho more often so Ronaldinho Gaúcho has more freedom to attack, even if it means having Adriano on the bench, because as of lately he has been acting as if he has the natural right to be a starting forward when he doesn't run all the time and helps bring the game forward. If we don't change at least some of those things I am really afraid we won't win.

I don't see that attitude, Daniel.

And I forgot to write, Juan really deserved that goal but Kingson played amazingly this game, like he didn't do in the other games. Amazing saves to deny Ronaldo and Juan (Cafu is crap and can't finish, should have passed to Ronaldinho)

Indeed, Adriano is the lazy one now.

Edit: shame that Ghana can't play the offside trap

Edit again: you're right about Cafu, Cicinho looks like a better player going forward, but how is he defensively?

He is a wingback with an attacking mentality but he can position himself allright and can tackle on the ball. When a player does get a chance to play behind him, he can come back quicker and more often than not he can recuperate the ball or just compensate for not being there earlier, like help prevent the player from advancing more. And that ball that Cafu had would have been a goal ;-).

At least if our players can make less mistakes with passing we should see a major improvement. How many times have you seen Ronaldinho lose the ball, or Adriano miss his target and give it to the opponent, or Zé Roberto lose on the midfield and have to run back to regain posession? Luckily Zé Roberto started at left wingback and can tackle and mark very well. And on that note, Adriano has played left wingback too.

Edit: I was thanking myself Japan couldn't finish and Ghana is the same. If we play Spain, Fernando Torres will have a field day getting behind Cafu and forcing either Lúcio or Juan to come mark him and leave someone open in the middle. Against France it will be Henry and then we'll have Juan or Lúcio in the area with Roberto Carlos and Gilberto Silva going against Vieira, Trezeguet, Zidane, and some other tall French guy, which means no matter what we will be in disadvantage.

France also looks like a team that has a hard time scoring.

I thought Cafu did well. He had the right mentality, even if his intentions weren't always carried out as the Brazilian fan would have liked. Emerson though, yeah get him off. Gilberto Silva has been better every time he's come on to the pitch this tournament.

I am not basing my decision on getting Cafu out because of that play ;-). If it was me in his position, I'd probably cross to Ronaldinho but might have just gone around the goalie or hit it sooner, it's understandable that he shot the ball but he was very arrogant, slowed down too much and tried a fancy finish. I f he can't even hit the ball well to cross how is he going to hit the ball the right way over the goalie?

I'm a big fan, can't help it ;)

And France have beaten Spain now, time for revenge. Shame they made my picks not fully right, as I had Spain to win. I hope Puyol is happy with his silly foul away from the ball that lead to the 2nd goal that opened up everything ;-)
