Sebastian Loeb has broken his arm by falling off a bike:

[news.bbc.co.uk]

Surely the fact that he'll still win the title is a measure of just how good this guy is

How many points he is already, 30 or something? I think he can be the champ even if he don't race anymore this year.

But I'm sad it happened to him, hope he gets allright soon...

35 ahead, 40 left...

So Gronholm needs two wins and two second places, or 3 wins and 1 3rd place, without Loeb returning. Can't see him doing it.

Well, he's clearly been the best of the rest this year and the only other driver to win the event

Wow, so a driver who will miss the last 3 races can still win the champ :O

he must have really dominated !

actually if Loeb wont race anymore ,Marcus will win all 4 races without any trouble(last race next one after Loeb and Gronholm lost about 5 minutes).Gronholm has been as fast as Loeb all season but has had some bad luck with car problems and few mistakes made by his own.without those few mistakes and problems he would maybe even lead the chapmpionship points.

Yeah, but given the Ford's reliability record this year, can you see Gronholm running without problems for 12 days?

i there is no one else that can really challenge him
subaru are too reliable, and hirvonen, who is often 3rd behind gronholm and loeb will surely allow gronholm to get in front of him

all loeb needs to do though, is get back at the last race (at worst) and get a decent result

real bad news for loeb. I think this situation shows the poor state of the WRC with so few competative teams and drivers.

gronholm is well funny, he always seems fed up :( :) Like in the swedish rally I think it was last year? could have been this one? and he rolled it or at least crashed it and buggered it all up. Hang on it must have been this year as they had the 06 subaru's - I think it was at the start of the season though :S

I agree with gary, this guy drove for a privateer team, broke his arm with four races left and is still likely to win his third consecutive championship, this guy is something special.

He is definitive special, but he is not in a normal privateer team. Citroen gives them full suport. And he will be beack in the factory team net season.

They have just a superior car that they could slow down the development of it to focus on the new car. But they still have some minor development for this year car.

Well Gronholm won so the gap is now 25 points.I think Loeb will be away from next race also.

So it's Pons instead of McRae for Australia.

All things considered Kronos can kiss the manufacturer's championship goodbye and unless Solberg and Pirelli produce a miracle, Gronholm won't have any competition for the rest of the year.
