Well I couldn't find an existing topic about this... if there is one, please delete this one.

Anyone who knows if the BBC will show the Silverstone race this weekend? (or any other analogue channel?)

An favorites for this race? Mansell? Hill? Prost?

Sky Sports have the rights.

Qualifying isn't going to be shown live by the looks of it but on a delay.

Race will be shown live at 1pm on Sunday.

Do you think a repeat will ever be shown on any other channel? I hate Sky - they take away all of the decent programs to MAKE people buy Sky :(

So it's not on the BBC this time?

Kyalami was on BBC I think?

Kyalami was yeah, with Murray commentating, but it was a one-off race, just to test the water, gauge the audience, and make sure the guys participating actually wanted to go through and do this on a more constructed format.

Im glad im not going to this...

GPM: 32 engine changes leave organisers furious.

Derek Warwick (GBR) GP Masters Series, 10th August 2006, Silverstone, UK
The much anticipated Grand Prix Masters at Silverstone could be spoiled by a chronic engine problem that has seen a total of 32 engines already replaced so far this weekend with several more planned.

The engines, supplied by Nicholson-McLaren, have proved exceptionally frail over the practice and qualifying sessions, with a number of the 13-car field forced into limited running after a myriad of issues prevented the former Formula One drivers from conducting many laps.

Indeed, practice saw ten engines changes, almost the full field, and when qualifying had finished, another 22 engines had to be changed again, the biggest victim being Nigel Mansell who saw a hydraulic failure cause a pipe to burst, putting water onto his tyres and pitching him into a spin at 170mph.

Derek Warwick has since admitted that it is a figure that will top 40 before the start of the race, leaving the organisers anxious over whether the engines will be able to last the 30-lap race distance to make it a competitive competition.

You can watch it live on the website for just £3 (www.gpmasters.com) you get the qualifying for that too which I find extremely good value for those of who don't have sky sports.

The 13 qualifiers for the 16 car racet tomorrow.
1 DANNER Christian 1:36.916
2 JOHANNSON Stefan 1:36.932
3 WARWICK Derek 1:36.982
4 PATRESE Riccardo 1:37.087
5 LAMMERS Jan 1:37.242
6 CHEEVER Eddie 1:37.492
7 DE CESARIS Andrea 1:37.761
8 FITTIPALDI Emerson 1:37.859
9 STUCK Hans-Joachim 1:38.511
10 SALAZAR Eliseo 1:40.314
11 TAMBAY Patrick 1:40.532
12 ARNOUX Rene 1:42.390
13 MANSELL Nigel not classified

Shame Nige had problems but it will be cool to see him coming through the field if he can get his car going. Wicked qualy though with the top three so close; GO WARWICK!!

I'd really LMAO if none of the drivers would finish because of the engines ;)

That's just bollocks frankly. He spun at Club at around 40mph, then toured around to the pits... not that you should know that, it's the report, so I've stuck quotation marks on it.

I think that report is from the practice laps on Friday, but I do seriously doubt he was doing that speed seeming as the quickest they go is nearly 180mph down Hangar Straight, maybe he spun at Stowe? Still wouldnt be 170.

But yeah he spun at club in Quali at like 40mph braking. What a FARCE this could turn out to be.

Oh, and my god didnt Rene Arnoux get fat?!?

Im currently at Abbey sending this on my phone. This is pretty poor... Mansell didn't even start the race and Warwick retired after about two laps. The track's relatively dry now and they are doing 2:10s. Waste of £60 me thinks.

Bit of a joke that

Cars were FAR too slow, no tools for pit stops, no spare parts...all a bit silly at the end of it :(

bit of a dissapointement the lap times:

1 CARROLL Adam 1m29s104 (gp2 2006)
1 ROSBERG Nico 1min 31.509 (gp2 2005)
1 LIUZZI Vitantonio 1min 36.902 (f3000 2004)
1 DANNER Christian 1:36.916 (gp masters 2006)

and this is after mansell was hyping up the series, saying the cars are more advanced and faster then early 90s f1 cars.

1 HILL Damon 1:24.960 (f1 1994)

(although correct me if the gp masters qualifying was on wet track)
