GP3? Does it work under windows xp?

ok....i made a fresh start with gp3...under XP.

I installed the original GP3 cd.....secondly in installed 1.13....

now i try to start up gp3 but absolutely nothing happens???

what should i do now?

Well I've just spent the whole evening searching the whole of this forum trying to get Grand Prix 3 to simply start on my XP, it crashes back to desktop almost immediately....and it just won't....i've tried every single suggestion i've read and have trawled through many threads going a long way back...i've searched every term i can think of.

I give up!

(Not critising people's suggestions by the way...reading the various threads shows that the solutions have worked for some people!)

Are you guys using the decrypted GP3.exe file, available in the download section?
Have you tried the XP Compatability Wizard to try to emulate Win98?
Are you using Task Manager to shut down all non-essential programs? Sometimes anti-virus and firewall software can interfere with gaming.

Another suggestion. I use GPxPatch 3.83 with GP32K because the later versions of GPxPatch did odd things to car sounds. Maybe an earlier version of GPxPatch would help?

i also tried everything without success, a lot of problems with both gp3, gp 1.13 and gpx patch under windows xp....i give up.

I also had problems and I suspect XP-SP3 is the reason.

Now I made a complete new installation of XP (with SP2) and it worked fine.
Only I have to set GP3.exe into compatibility mode (Win98/Me).

I have GPxPatch 1.31 and GP3 v1.13 installed.

The next days I will install the SP3 on my new XP to proof if it really is the reason for the problems.

Now I have installed the SP3 and GP3 still works without problems.
