Belini,

I am using gpxpatch with gp3 2000 on Vista and it's working fine. Ralph Hummerich's car set actually requires gpxpatch to load up correctly.

how did you get it to run, whenever I hit the start button
in gpxpatch it always gave a stop error on loading gp32k.
without gpxpatch it ran fine. always crashed though when
calibrating hardware graphics.

I installed gpx patch and the gp3 2000 decrypted exe. Maybe I set something on the compatibility mode but they usually just cause gp3 2000 to crash.

I'll check again, but I can say I am 100% sure I am using gpxpatch on gp3 2000. Have you tried running gpx patch as administrator?

I launch gpx patch from the desktop shortcut.

spent about 2 hours doing everything to try and get it
to work, are you sure you're not getting it confused with
gp3 as that works fine with gpxpatch in vista.

if you've got gp32k running please explain to everyone
what settings your'e using in vista and what options you're
setting in gpxpatch.

thanks

I'm sorry it hasn't worked out for you.

My GPxPatch settings run from a desktop shortcut. On the compatibility tab, I have only 'run as administrator' checked.

On GP3 2000, I think I have it run as administrator too. That's about all I have as far as I can remember. Remembering my tests with GP3 2000, setting those other compatibility settings (on GP32k exe) will only crash it.

I am sure I have it right that GP3 2000 is running. I've *never* run GP3 on my computer, only GP3 2000, it in fact still has the undecrypted exe.

When I boot back into Windows (I'm running Linux most of the time), I'll be sure to capture the screen and show it to you. On a side note, I wonder if the Vista updates change anything.

thanks for the screens, my run as administrator boxs were
greyed out, I was misled thinking that once you chose to
run as administrator via the right click menu it always
ran in that mode. it must work differently having the
box ticked as eventually got it to work.

so did some searching on the web and via some dos box stuff
got up and running as an administrator but still they were
greyed out , then logged on again as a user and they'd appeared.

you only need to run gpxpatch as administrator, sadly with the
9600gt it was still double the PO of xp @ belini nurburgring.
in the wet I was getting around 160% max PO at times, with xp
I'm getting a max of 70%, think this could be down to vista
not supporting eax sound, enabling hardware sound decreases
the PO quite a lot, apperently sb audigy cards have an eax
simulation, be interesting to know if that works.

thanks

I'm glad you got it working belini.

I don't have your tracks though as I'm using out of the box GP3 2K. Would be interested in testing it out if there's any particular test you would want me to try and if it doesn't change track characteristics (only visual upgrade).

I'm trying to keep my GP3 2K copy 'out of the box' in terms of gameplay core.

I tried all the belini tracks with no problems, you'll get a higher
PO with them though because there's more detail. they all need to be
patched with the relevent season patches as it fixes bhp issues and
improves the slipstreaming effect, don't forget the physics they're
used to counteract the patching done in the exe for the slipstreaming
effect, feels the same as the original except when slipstreaming it's
harder to overtake:)

GP3 2000 and vista - IT WORKS, FINALLY!
card - NVIDIA GeForce 8600GTS

1) get the latest updates for vista and graphics card
2) change gpxpatch and gp3_2000.exe (run as administrator)
3) same for gpxpatch shortcut on desktop like (jackschmidt screenshots above)
4) do the same for "show settings for all users"
5) overwrite original gp3_2000.exe with decrypted one.
6) take read only atributes off files
7) run from gpxpatch shortcut on desktop

Also what are the best settings for my card?
The white lines on the edges of the track are a little jagged.

anisotropic filtering ?
antialiasing gamma correction ?
antialiasing mode ?
antialiasing transparency ?
conformant texture clamp ?
force mipmaps ?
texture filtering - negative LOD bias ?
texture filtering - quality ?
threaded optimization ?
triple buffering ?
vertical sync ?
