I have an idea for you concerning perf.
There are four test sessions - not two - before the start of the season (over 4 days, obviously)
Test 1 - Qualifying Perf.
Test 2 - Qualifying Range.
Test 3 - Race Perf.
Test 4 - Race Range.
Test 1.
A qualifying session is performed at a track (e.g. Castle Combe) with perf for the session being 16100 with no perf range. Here is how qualifying perf is given out:
1. Car 1: 58.400s - Qual Perf: 16500
2. Car 2: 58.410s - Qual Perf: 16499
3. Car 3: 58.411s - Qual Perf: 16499
4. Car 4: 58.511s - Qual Perf: 16489...
22. Car 23: 59.530 - Qual Perf: 16397
As such, quali perf is based on time. 1 tenth of a second accounts for 10 perf points. The car at the top of the timesheets automatically starts with 16500 qual perf. If the next driver is 0.1s behind, he loses 10 perf points in comparison to the first driver. However, if the next driver is 0.01s behind, he loses only 1 perf point. If he is 0.001s behind, he also recieves 16500.
Test 2.
A second qualifying session occurs with the original qual perf of 16100 no perf range. Qual Range for Car 1 follows:
Car 1: 58.204s - Range: 196
The time for test 2 is taken away from the time in Test 1. (No minus ranges) 1 tenth of a second accounts for 100 range. For example, Car 1 had a Test 1 time of 58.400s, and a Test 2 time of 58.204s. The test 2 time is taken from the test 1 time to give -196. As there are no minus ranges, it is automatically changed to 196.
Test 3.
A free practice session occurs with race perfs, except the top 5 from Test 1 recieve an extra 50,40,30, 20 and 10 race perf points each for this test ONLY. Race Perf is given out in similar way to Qual Perf, except it starts at 16400 rather than 16500.
Test 4
Test 4 occurs in the same way as Test 2, except using the Test 3 times rather than the test 1 times.
Half way through the season, the same 4 tests happen at the same venue, except using the perfs gained from the start of the season.
However, the other option is we all start from scratch, and perf is gained in the same way that perf (driver and engine) is gained in the WGP and w300.
Now that I've said my piece, I feel I should join, which I will (due to the simplicity of it all ^_^) . I will post details of my team in my next post.
