GP3 & F1 Drivers

Hi everybody.

Does anyone know if there are real F1 Drivers who actually play GP3?. I know this sounds weird (I mean, if you can drive a real F1 car...) but I've seen several interviews with JPM in which he says he loves racing sims (I think JV too, but I'm not sure).

I think Arrows cooperated with Geoff's team but that doesnt mean that drivers really played GP3 for fun - probably just to test it

i seem to remember reading somewhere that jos verstappen played it, and after a while, with tinkering with the setups he made the laptimes fall dramatically.

He said that although it did'nt actually feel like what it does to drive an F1 car, the technical side was very realistic

I know that Jacques Villeneuve used Grand Prix 2 to learn the track layouts.... etc, and I have a feeling that Montoya used an F1 sim (perhaps Gp3) for the same purpose, but other than that, I'm not sure. I also know that JV plays online FPSs.... but I don't know which one! Better be careful when hurling abuse next time, I could be arguing with an F1 champ!

I heard that JPM is playing F1 Sims - for fun.
That was back in middle 2001 if i'm right ....

JPM does play Grand Prix Legends, I dont know if he still does though, but he did in his CART days.

I read somewhere that Jaguar Racing use GP3 to learn track layouts. I seen a pic of them sitting in a formula one car/seat thing, with big tv screens in front of them. I'll try find it...it was quite a long time ago!

Oliver Gavin (whatever happened to him?) used gp1 to learn the spa circuit for the 1993 formula 3 race at Spa-Francorchamps and I beleive he did quite well too.

You think? That would be pretty stupid by them,.... i mean... we, gamers know the layout of the track :p (joke)

I think Oliver Gavin is the official FIA Safety Car driver for all events on a GP weekend.

I also heard that jos verstappen played gp3. My first post in the new forum!! What a special day!!!

Just to clear things up:

JPM - Played GP2 as a teenager and thinks he has "driven round interlagos more than any other driver"

JV - Used GP2 to learn the circuits
