I finally managed to get GPL working at last!!!!

After the post by ozzie about F12001 and people who did'nt think much of it giving it another go after patching it, i decided to try and get GPL working, i've never been able to get it running with all the patches now available ( plus i could'nt be arsed with the messing around editing core.ini files etc)

but with enjoying F12001 as it should have been, i decided to give GPL a whirl


wow what a fantastic game, Alex has always been sing its praises to me and he often participates in a few online races ( last one he got shunted off delibrately hey alex it was'nt by a ferrari driver was it?)

so here is what i have accomplished so far,


theres loads of graphic updates which i've not managed to track down and install yet, but i will eventually

this game is 4 years old, and the handling and physics are awesome, similarly so is nascar 2002, both by papyrus and nascar features almost everthing from pace car to proper stop and goes

would'nt it be execellant if papyrus got a license to do a F1 game, they blow everyone out of the water

where it says "select the interest area" change it to mpeg of 1971,72 f3 driver playing gpl.

theres 3 downloads, get all 3 and stick them into one main folder and execute the batch file and it'll make 1 big mpeg movie

OMG! That's scary, it makes me realise just how bad I am :'

However, with that kind of equipment, I'm sure you could get that good if you're familiar with the 'heel-and-toe' technique. But the amount of speed he carries into corners and how late he breaks just blew me away

LOL well yes it was actually. I think it was a case of sour grapes/revenge, because I got a great start at Monaco, and nudged him over a little, so he took it upon himself to attempt Lowes hairpin flat, which was a real bain for myself considering I was at that very moment traversing the corner. Somehow I felt he did it on purpose :\

Make sure you get the patch that enables Force Feedback, that helps a lot

Chris, is there a patch for FFB or do you need to enter a code into the core.ini - the odd thing is, I don't have a core.ini, so I can't do it :S. Where can I get this patch?

Ermm well i cant remember at the mo. I think The patch is the official one and it contains FFback. It never worked with me but i asked someone to send me their core.ini file and theirs worked. I'll go and find out.........

Whoa! I never got it looking THAT good! But I love the dynamics of the game (the engine), and the sounds are even today enough to blow you off your chair.

perhaps I should install gpl again and see what updates can do to me!
