A little while ago I promised to posted the topic: WHAT YOUR HEROS ARE REALLY UP TO.
Now I got picture to proof that I was right. Sorry for tzhe poor quality of this scan.

The text says:
THAT'S WHY SCHUMI DEMANDS THIS CAR

Optimum protection for all four tyres, thus rear-end collisions will not lead to takeoffs anymore. This study of a maximum-safety car was designed by an Italian engineer after proposals made by Michael Schumacher. After the takeoff of his brother it's an issue again. Mercedes already tested protection-fenders at the rear tyres.

Well, now I am no specialist in matters concerning design, but unless I am not very much mistaken the solution Newey and co.came up with seems to be a tiny little bit more, well subtle.
Dear Mr. Scumacher and signore Vito Inanello (the engineer how made this piece of ugly shite): If this is the future of F1, PayTV can have it, because I certainly don't want this.

I just wonder if you still keep comparing M$ to the likes of Fangio, Farini or Ascari who really knew what danger in motorsports meant. Those heros of old would have laughed at anyone demanding such a fairy-car. Risking their own lifes what a matter of pride (and sportsmanship) for them. They knew they could die everyday but still laughed into the face of fate instead of crying like a little baby. Remember who drivers reacted when Jackie Stewart first came up with (compared to this reasonable) safety-demands. they laughed at him at said he would take the manliness out of their sport. Safety is one matter, but aesthetics are another. Even if you kill me know, I dare say Ascari (for example) would have never entered such a car even if he knew it would save his life.

I'm sorry for (presumably) starting another controversal discussion, but this is about the future of the ONE thing we all love.

You may now fire back.

Looks like a bumper car of the future. But we all know that Michael isn't the cleanest of drivers, and this would lead to more bumping off the road due to no damage on the part of the bumper.

Wise up, Michael!

Or, worse still, this means more carbon fibre, more debris at incidents, therefore more punctures- which could be at high speed. Result= no less danger than before.

Criticise the @!#$ out of him guys, but with cars like that, Graham Beverage would still be alive, as well as the fire-marshall at Monza. People close to them would not be grieving today had this design been implemented.

I do hate the look of the car, but you are overlooking the actual point of it. In my opinion, if they design it to be slightly more aesthetically pleasing, it will bring more safety, and closer racing.

WTF IS THAT?

Theres probably no way that would work properly. That wouldnt stop accidents like Germany 01 and Melbourne 01, the cars speed difference is to great, the behind car could still easily ride over the front one! If it is not hollow it will weigh to much and if it is it will be too weak. Can you imagine what would happen if a car hit another like Germany01? There would be debris everywhere, worse than before.

"still be alive, as well as the fire-marshall at Monza" actaully by the impact the cars had and the speeds they were traveling this shape probably would not have made that much of a difference, the impact speeds were to great.

That car is stupid, all these bloody rules are ruining F1, grooved tyres, thin cars etc, is bloody stupid. Everyone is warned bout the risks of F1 when then want to marshal, they know the risks, and when one is killed it is sad, but they know the risks and its 99% safe for them!

This is making a full out of F1, whats next? roofs? single makes? Cos we are heading that way, slowly but surely, we are heading that way!

If MS doesnt like it, tough no other drivers have come up with @!#$ like this, why should everyone change cos he wants it?

the marshall that died at monza, was down to the fact he was'nt in his marshall post, instead he was stood out on the circuit when that massive accident took place.

if he'd been at his marshall post instead of trying to get a better view, he'd probably still be alive

and that death at melbourne was freak accident, the wheel flew through a gap in the fencing that was more or less the same size.

it was like threading an eye of a needle.

so a kneejerk reaction like this can only harm the sport of F1

It wont help saftey, no way and if cars do turn like that i cant see it attracting people to the sport but if they do turn out like that i'll watch CART for some good racing, not this crap.

Im sure lots of others would agree, but it sure wont attract people to the sport

DAM THE AUTOCENTRE!!!

Btw, i'd like to see the pit men fuel that, look how much he would have to bend over to get the fuel rig to reach the car :)

The front of the car looks like it would slice a tyre open if it touched it, like the McLaren 95 nose cone.

It also looks like the driver sits higher

Safer my arse

Argh, that THING actually hurts my eyes! It should have been killed at its conception!

As to the safety claims, I am pretty sure that if we counted the average amount of F1 miles driven per fatality or injury, I am pretty sure that we would find that it would be safer to be in a F1 context than your everyday traffic. Just think of the huge amount of miles driven every year in races, qualifying, practice and not to forget the penultimate milage generator - testing, with no injuries or even fatalities whatsoever! Private traffic also generates huge sums of milage every day, but they also main and kill by the thousands every day. I sense a double standard here.

IMHO it would be both logically and ethically proper to look at and improve everyday traffic safety based on the lessons learned in motorsports, instead of conjuring up misfits like this.

Hey, hey, jey, better not personalize the whole thing. It is NOT Alex against me or anyone else. Even if we seldom agree on (any) matter discussed here I think of him as a friend and wouldn't like to see my name on any list stating I am against him.
Still M$ sucks as much as that "car". Just imagine it has (like Max "Moron" Mosley suggests) a diesel engine. Why not turn it into soapbox-race? Or bobsleigh, they don't have wheels at all. We just have to find a way to prevent the dogs from eating marshalls that have left their posts.

Oh sorry, didnt mean to make it look like that!

Why dont we turn F1 into wipeout?

Wipeout is too dangerous. Using computers and/or consoles can harm your eyes. FIA would never approve of it

G'day all..

I thought that pic was some kind of joke. I honestly did.

Anyway, in fairness to Alex, if it were anyone else trying to endorse it then we'd be weighing up the pros and cons of it, rather than systematically whining about how crap it is. But, as it stands, it's Schumacher endorsing it, so all i can say is -

WhAt A LoAd Of CrAp.
