Hi guys.
I'm working on Silverstone to update it to the 1985 F1 season, so the one with the (silly) chicane to slow down Woodcote.
I need a few infos:
- the only one with this chicane i have found is the one from abcdefg's site: do we have another one? This is a 1977 version...
- the chicane is a slow or fast one? i have watched on and on the youtube videos but still not sure (it seems to be a slow one, 1st or 2nd gear...)
- anybody else working on this project?
As always, thanks in advance.
Claudio

before 1985 the woodcote chicane was a fast-ish left right with high kerbs. for 1986 i believe they added a slow slow left 2nd gear chicane, which then turned right back onto woodcote - watch the season review of that year to find exact details and hear Brundle describing the changes.

Hi.
In 1986 Silverstone was not scheduled, maybe you reffer to 1987 when they put a slow left/right chicane.
For 1985, in some video it seems a very fast one...and the one we have in the track is a 1st gear one...
Bye

Yes sorry 1987, my bad.

1985 was the same as the one used throughout the 70's wasn't it?

Yes, the same one.
So it is a fast one?

i'd say the same as the swimming pool chicane at monaco - you aim the car and chuck it in, only the kerbs were higher in the 70s/80s

And so the track we have is wrong...

I can't comment as I haven't raced on any of the old silverstones we have available. Earliest i use is 1996. But yes the chicane was a fastish swimming pool esque chicane, not a slow one.

Ok. SO it seems we don't have the 1973-1985 Silverstone layout, or better we have it but the chicane that has changed Woodcote is a slow one instead of a fast one.
Now the question: anyone working on it? anyone thinking about edit it?
If someone make the track layout and cc-line i offer myself for the graphic part...
Bye.

look at the Jean-Pierre Jabouille lap. you can see the chicane's geometry better

Hi.
The onboard of Jabouille shows that it is a fast chicane, something 3rd or 4th gear one, not a 1st gear, even if it seems that JP is doing a slow tour of the track just for TV.
Thanks.
