Ad-ware in GP3 editors !!!

Hi all,


I have GP3-2k running the fantastic work of Pirx 2012 season.
I like Catherham and I want to run upfront... (oh ya!)
I need to inject the car with 50... uh... 100 more hp.

So I downloaded and installed GP3edit and GP3Master and learned that they do not take the 2k EXE.
Reading the forum, I'll backup my gamez folder and try the switch with the old gp3.exe.

My purpose of this post is that when I reopened my Firefox, it went to the following page:
Babylon translator advertising page: www.babylon.com/welcome/?affID=14307

Being a sysadmin, my box is already cleaned up but it was so sneaky, it did not raise any alarm !!! ???

So my question is: *** Did any of you ever encounter an advert in a GP3 utility before ? ***

The gp3ed113.exe installer from ftp.freenet.de is 280,064 bytes and the one from simracingworld.com is 280,102 bytes
GP3master.zip comes from simracingworld too and is 797,363 bytes.

Anyone has different sizes ?

Not sure about the ads, but I do know that if there's a performance text file attached to your mod, it's pretty easy to open it up and boost your caterham

gp3ed113.exe is 273.5 kio for me
GP3Maser.zip is 691.8 kio and gp3master-1-1 778.7 kio wich are the sizes indicated in simracingworld.com for both 3 of them.
Don't remember where I downloaded them but for sure there weren't any adverts as far as I remember.
I'm not not pretty confident about the ftp site you mentioned.

Btw, as you notice it, those utils doesn't work for GP3-2k. You need CarsetCreator for that.
And as smoglessbutton4 said, you don't need that tools to boost your car. Just open the PERF.txt file (or whatever is its name) and change the values of your team manually in it.

about raising performance of caterham in season2012MOD:
smoglessbutton4 is right. the file you have to adjust is in ../SEASON/SEASON2012_Performance.TXT
just compare your drivers values with vettel/alonso/... and edit with texteditor.

I dunno about the ad-ware but I specified the exact size of the downloads as from a right-click and choose Properties then Details or Dir the folder off of a Command Prompt window:
My gp3edit.exe is 173,168 bytes.
My GP3Master.exe is 1,428,480 bytes.


I figured that SEASON2012_Performance.TXT was the file to have fun with but a few things here:

So nothing in 2012 SEASON.set affects car performance. It's all overridden by the file specified in GPXpatch ?
( I use to know all of that in gp2... LoL 15 yrs ago !!! )

Pirx, what are the other files like 2012_perfALL.txt and 2012_perf1.txt up to ...4.txt in the SEASON folder?

And any docs explains what each values stand for :
Name=Caterham,Renault
Performance=770,770,4000
First Driver=20,Jarno Trulli,15775,192,15775,100
Second Driver=21,Heikki Kovalainen,15775,192,15775,128

Name=(Team name),(Engine name)
Performance=(Engine bhp quali),(Engine bhp race),(Reliability, lower values are more reliable)
First/Second Driver=(Car number),(Driver name),(Performance quali),(Performance quali variation range),(Performance race),(Performance race variation range)
...or, at least I think!

To just boost your Caterham, just change 770,770 to 910,910 (for example)

@MotherDawg :I gave you the values of the exe I had because yours were different of the good ones, so possible corrupted files.
Hopefully you understood it that way.
