Now available an updated and fixed versione of Matthew Burge's Detroit Belle Isle track: in the download section, under "Gp3 cart and other tracks".
I have added fence extensions, updated advertisments texture, corrected the pitlane and modify CC line in a few points of the track.
Note this is the 1998-2001 configuration of Belle Isle (it is not the 2007 IRL configuration).
Of course, full credits to the author of the original track, Matthew Burge.
For Matthew: if you don't agree, let me know.
The track is fully playble: test it and report any bugs.
Claudio

Sorry guys, i'm a donkey. In the download section, under "cart and others tracks". It will be available soon, if anyone won't disagree.
I'll edit my previous post.
Claudio.

Thank you very much, Claudio, will you upload the other fixed tracks
too and can you take a look at Philipp Island (cc-line) please ?
Thanks for your works.

Happy racing from Germany !!!

Hi Drafi5, Detroit is now available in the download section.
I will upload other tracks as soon as i prepare the file.
I upload Detroit first, 'cause it seemed to be very hard to fix, while it has been quite easy (after the good advise of Roberto Scandura ;-))
About Philipp Island, at the moment i'm not workin on it (i have worked principally on Cart tracks, 'cause i was going to have a 2002 Cart season, just started).
About the CC-line, therefore, i admit to have been quite lucky with Detroit: i have modified the cc-line on the main straight (CC often drove on the grass, and crashed in turn 1) just to make the CC stay a bit more to the right, and this has corrected the CC-line also in other 2-3 corners: but i'm not a good track-editor, so i can't say if i will be able to do it again...:-)
Anyway, the most important quality you must have to edit tracks, is a consistent quantity of patience (and luck...): i tried a few days ago to modify CC-line in a track, and it was a disaster.
Bye. Claudio

Take your time, Claudio, I know it is a hard job, I only had made some
GP2 conversions for my own use like Brno, Eagle´s Nest, Spa 1955,
Leipzig (some with the Roberto´s help), but the cc-line...

Happy racing from Germany !!!

interesting stuff baby :)
i always thought belle isle was flat from Google earth. I should consider using it sometimes, it's nice piece of asphalt.

anyway, if you are interested i can make a new ccline in some free time. i had some crashes where the ccline is too close the walls :)

About CC line: of course Roberto, if you have time do it! I corrected it a bit, but there are points of the circuit where CC drive on the grass or into the walls.
About the track: yes, it is not flat. On youtube you can see a camera-car of a Montoya's lap in 2000. The 2007 version is flat (and even the track is different).

indeed, saw the onboard with Montoya making sparks allover ;)

the problem with ccline running off track or inside walls is due to the fact that these tracks are converted from gp2 where some commands may not be equals... i'll have a look as i'll need it to use ;-)

A suggestion: make a correct CC line for Park Lane, Pyramids and Estoril tracks!!!

Well, Detroit is a strange city track, but very funny to drive on.
I think there will be some update for the MD file: i set 10.000 as cc power and cc grip, but cc are too much faster (not in speed, in lap time) then me; they do about 1.13.500 (it is the qualifying lap time) and i can only get about 1.19.000 trying to kill myself onto every wall :(
But now i will wait for your new cc-line, and then set the MD if necessary (i think that a non correct cc-line can affect the lap time, expecially if CC pass into the wall, as they gain a lot of time having closer line).
A question: about editing cc-line how do you manage it? I mean, you work with the ccline tool or with angle (i hope i have been clear, but not so sure).
Bye.

not sure indeed ;) have a look in the tutorial first, hard to explain from scratch. the most important thing is knowledge about realistic racing lines, the editing matter is quite easy...
but stay away from ccline tool, those click&drag stuff are a source of rant and stress... :)

Anyone made a new CC-line actually? I have tried, but not managed. I have worked on a decent setup for two days, fiddled with MD, anything you can think of because I'm just three races from the end of my IRL 2008 season against them CCs and do want to have Belle Isle in, but I can't go faster than 1:17,5, with them doing high 1:13s...

Hi guy. Your time is a very good one. Remember i set the track to have the CC make a lap in about 1.17.200, but with the original Gp3 physic, 800 Bhp engine, 16384 as the highest performance for CC drivers. So i suppose you are not using original physic and performance: if it is right, you have to manage with the MD drastically reducing CC grip value (as you can see it is already low, 8200, but try to reduce more).
About the cc line, yes it is not very accurate, and it could affect the lap time, but to make a good ccline is an art (i tried but, as you, without good results).
Let me know.

CC grip should be 8200? Okay then that explains it, I must be using wrong MD files then. Here it reads CC grip 10000. I do not use original settings, but only slightly more: 800 BHP, 16400 best CC grip. But thanks for your help, I'll try with 8200 now!

Sorry guy. A bit confusion by me: you are using the Md i posted with the track, but it is not the definitive one. I have modified it to fit the lap time (about 1.13.500) with a reduced cc grip value (8900 and not 8200 as i said) so that i am competitive.
This is the Md you can try to use:
