Sure. Range is how reliably fast a driver is.

eg Michael is always pretty fast, so might have a low value range, while Motoya has good and bad days, so he may have a high of 19000, but a low of 18800. Its a random factor - perf file will set it anywhere in the specified zone or 'range' you give.

Does that mae sense?

Say a driver has a perfomace value of 19000 and a range of 500. Does that mean his performance value can be as low as 18500? Does it also mean that his performace can be as high as 19500?

Alex Yoong's range would be quite low I think. He was consistently slow. :(

That's how I meant to explain it :)

The range in a driver's performance seems to be in addition to the:

cc random perf range min
cc random perf range max

that is found in magic data files, and possibly other factors as well.

I always thought, 19000 and Range 500 means, 250 up and 250 down. So 500 as the "total" range.
Who knows what is right?

bongo, I think Perf+Range, not its half.
My trouble always been if the range is intended in example Perf+Range or even Perf-Range

about
cc random perf range min
cc random perf range max

i found they work reasonably in that way. I made some experiment in the old days to reduce them in the oval races. As all the cars always run at teir max power there would be a huge gap after only 5 laps and noticed somehow that cars stayed closer eachother when tweaked them

well, yes. Michael Schumacher could be something like 19000+50, while Montoya wich was ofter all smoke and no roast could be 18700+320. Able to reach Schumy but also easy to make one of his craps...
