Have you tried registering with sportplanet? That's not impossible and then the carsets are yours to download. The pop ups might be annoying, but the pearls are right there in the shell pal.

In fact I'm happily downloading the 2001 season right now.

i did it, thanks for the advice.

Don't know if you guys already know it, but the download speed on this site is back on full speed. Including the old section. So check that ones for the carsets
