gp3 and dgvoodoo not working

Hi all,

I have working gp3 with software rendering working just fine. About a year ago I had also dgvoodoo working with hardware rendering just fine. Just recently when I tried to play again this marvellous game, it crashed to desktop instantly and gave me error codes.
I had to re-install everything and I got it to work again in software rendering but now when I try with hardware rendering with dgvoodoos latest version it gives me crashes everytime, nothing helps. Not earlier versions of dgvoodoo or anything.
If I delete the dgvoodoo off, then it starts working again. Is it possible that my windows 10 has updated something that prevents using virtualizing of rendering systems?!?
I'll put my error message below. Can this be solved or am I now condemned to use software?

I've tried all in my power today and nothing works with this. I tried Dxwnd and it worked, but graphically nothing is different to software. Both software and dxwnd crash when it's raining. It doesn't help to reduce details or anything.
My cpu is intel i7 8700K and I have 16gb ram and my gpu is rtx 2080ti. My cpu is not overloaded at all when crash happens..this is just weird, because like couple of months ago everything worked, even when raining in races and dgvoodoo on.
Frustrating..this is just good game to race even now in 2024.

try this pre-configured files of dgvoodoo
that should work. extract all this files in the subfolder of the game.
and mind to set gp3.exe or gp3v.exe - whatever you use - be configurated in compatibility mode. (run as Windows XP sp2 or Windows 7).

Please try this DirectDraw Wrapper.
Graphics compatibility is excellent, but very slow on my PC.
Maybe it will run smoothly on your PC.
Copy ddraw.dll in "DDrawCompat-v0.5.2.zip" to the GP3 folder.

Thanks all for your kind help! This noob (myself) got it working somehow!

I tried Pippozzos dgvoodoo files and it helped little. Screen was stretched still to full screen and the graphics quality was quite odd to say atleast!
And it crashed a lot!! No rain races because crash immediately. (CPU occupancy was about 20-40%)

Those files for dgvoodoo did something magical and combined to this thing that I restored default 3d-settings in Nvidia control panel.
After that I opened Dgvoodoo and made the screen "stretched 4:3 ratio" and now I have my game screen like I see in youtube videos and also
graphics quality is quite "passable" now.

AND the most important thing..dgvoodoo do not crash my game when trying to launch the game.
Still it's not quite there yet..for example in "Ted Meat" youtube videos the gp3 graphics is smooth from the edges.
Mine is rough looking especially the edges.

I think your help was the most important here
because I got the game working again, so thank you all very much!

Now my gp3 and gp3 2K is working quite well. I'm using dgvoodoo 2.72 and with that it's running somewhat well.
GP3 2K is slower in heavy traffic areas in corners at the start, but it's manageable now.
I'm satisfied in basic GP3 performance at the moment but I have 2 problems..
both crash like every other time when the race is over and for example in GT3 2K I can't restore it.
These are not saving the race even when I have that autosave enabled in gppatch.exe.
Other problem is that I don't have that official "TAG HEUER" timing in bottom of my screen like
I've seen in youtube videos. Is it a setting in game options?

ok, firstly if you want use ddrawcompat , try the 0.3.1 , then if you use the dgvoodoo 2.52 should work fine, but do not forget to set the compatibility mode on the .exe you are running. and run it as administrator. The crash my also due some wrong installation (try to reinstall the game).
Then if you use GpxPatch, as I can see you said "autosave" , the TV graphics are selectable in the tab "GPxSat" where you can see Classic (90s with tag heuer), digital (early 2000) or digital 2004 or digital 2010.

Ok, I have now this crazy combination and its working, I have dgvoodoo 2.8.5 and that with your settings and files. It did miracles because before
I had in start of the races like 300% occupancy and over, now it's runs smooth with 50-60% occupancy. And this is with GP3 2K!

I can't get that TV graphics setting to work at all. I try to use that tag heuer-style but no results. It must be some weird thing now why it don't show
because it's working very well with GP4. Or was that tag heuer-system in game already?
My monitor is 43" 4k monitor (very good with old games, not). Scaling issue maybe or something else..I have no idea
anymore..I have tried to scale in display settings and I've tried different resolutions, but no..it do not show.

Anyways, thanks for your help once again. GP3 2K is now running "perfect" thanks to you.

I'don't have the TV graphics in GP3-2K to , it's because you use software mode i think.

I got it working now! Just a moment ago. I use hardware mode and I had to enable it in game
to show it. I'm just a noob. But it's working now. Had to immediately start new season and
I had fun times!
