GP3 install order... and a GPxPatch question

Hi all!

Here's my question:

I re-installed my Win2000 OS this weekend (with GP3 of course, including patches), then I opened my GPxPatch and checked a few boxes (skip intro, skip main menu, show in cockpit, installed a few tracks, etc). I always use the same install pattern:

1) install original GP3
2) replace GP3.exe with the GP3 noCD patch
2) copy the "2003-update" files to the GP3 dir.
3) install GPxPatch (this time 3.83)
4) make a few selections
5) install GP3 edit
6) open my .GP3 file + make adjustements + export to game
7) start game from GPxPatch

Everytime I re-open GPxPatch, the boxes I checked aren't checked anymore and the tracks came back to the default ones. If I check them again, the game starts without skipping the intro and main menu. It's like it doesn't remember my settings.

Is there an "official" install pattern I should follow to:

1) keep any GPxPatch settings I made (including tracks and prefs)
2) have the most recent updated game

I thank you very much in advance!!!

habs :)

ps: I tried re-installing the whole package but with an older version of GPxPatch (3.31), same problems. It worked well before and I just don't know what I did bad this time?!?

How do you close GPxPatch? If you use the 'Quit' button then any changes you made are saved. If, however, you use 'Escape' on your keyboard all changes are cancelled. I'm not sure about using the 'X' in the top right or the dropdown menu in the top left though.

Hi St.Hubbins!

I use the 'Quit' button.

I guess I'll uninstall and then reinstall everything, write down every experiences I do, find the latest patches and cross my fingers... lol

Hopefully I'll find the right install pattern.

THX!

If it is Gp3 we are talking about and not Gp32k my order would be

1) install original GP3
2) install official patch to ver. 1.13
2) replace GP3.exe with the GP3 noCD patch for 1.13
2) copy the "2003-update" files to the GP3 dir.
3) install GPxPatch (this time 3.83)
4) make a few selections
5) install GP3 edit for 1.13
6) open my .GP3 file + make adjustements + export to game
7) start game from GPxPatch

If it's GP3 2K, then the order goes

1. install game
2. test game works
3. find game doesn't work
4. get annoyed and kick the computer
5. spend 1/2 hour fixing the front of my case with bodge-tape
6. repeat steps 1-5

That's my experience anyway...

lol, yeah - or in my case:

4) get annoyed and chuck the mouse against the floor;
5) pay £5.00 P & P for a new mouse off Amazon that only costs £2.80 !
6) Seek professional help
