(INTERESTED?) 2013 real time 3RD quarter performance last post.

Posted by airjimracing
I wanted to calculate new performance values for this year and I have averaged this year's times in Jerez & last years.

What do you think?

That's great, I could use the feedback because I'm not sure which value to use...

I've done it 3 ways:

1st using the last 10 GPs for those like Grosjean, who haven't registered a decent time in a race yet. Or like Massa who's performed terribly this year but stays in the top 10 with last years better 8 races.

2nd taking only this year's 2 races so far, but Grosjean is a problem, I have to "invent" a time therefor performance is bias for now.

3rd is interesting, I take each driver's best performance in a GP and change it only if he improves, it keeps the pack tight. Schumy & Grosjean have qualified 3rd, so they would be strong in every qually. Massa could perform bad all year as long as he sets a good time in one GP!

Ultimately, the more races go by, the best option obviously will be the 2nd. I think that after 10 GPs we'll have a clear picture where everybody is.

The file is good but the range is too high. Perez in the race is not so fast then in real life, i know its a game, but thats due the range is too high. I would reduce it for sure with 500 for all the drivers :)

Remember, he was 3rd fastest in Malaysia. I use real times and calculate the percentage. This is the order. Surprisingly the Red Bull drivers are ahead of McLaren's, Perez in 6th ahead of Alonso!

He also finished 2nd in the race so the range is up there, if not he'll never finish 2nd in any G.P.

I tested these values today in Sepang for 20 laps and the result was Alonso Button Hamilton Perez Vetel Webber Raikkoen and Senna, pretty close! Of course it's random but most of the times the results are quite reasonable.

Thanks for the feedback, any other comments are always welcomed.
Shanghai update available.

Hi I'm liking the way you're doing these updates. Is there an update for Bahrain to download?

Some little thing I notice: as a consequence of Schumacher qualifying well and him having such bad race performance what tends to happen each race is he qualifies high up the grid(let say 4th)but when the race starts he is so slow and holds up everyone behind him. Sometimes the ai cant pass properly and he creates a big train of cars behind him. perhaps artificially make his race performance a bit better, but not so much that he always picks up points?

Good point, I'll keep that in mind, though his race performance will pick up anyway since the poor lap times were due to bad luck...
Bahrain ready.

Enjoy.
