Performance calculator equation

Hi guys, I'm busy working on some more realistic performance files for certain seasons but in order to do things a little quicker rather than the slow trial and error way, does anyone know what the calculation used to work out a cars performance is? Obviously it's some equation with the power and grip but it seems that a simple "power X grip" equation doesn't give the required results.

Prblanco has a perf calculator I believe? Where you put in race results and qualifying results and it generates a perf, but I can't remember where it is.
If needs be I can send you an upload o make the perf files for you?

Thanks, I found that one but the link to it is no longer valid, the file is not hosted anymore. Would have been useful.

I'm doing them ok, it's just taking a long time to get the grip levels to match the percentage figures I need, so I was looking for a quicker way of doing it cos I don't have much free time and I've got 3 or more seasons of stuff that I want to adjust so I was just looking for a lazy way to sort it out. Thanks for the offer though Truecrysis. I was just going to set up a excel sheet to calculate it all. Probably what Prblanco was doing as well, I just need to work out the formula.

If anyone has the link to that file I'd greatly appreciate it.

I'll be posting my performance file using real time from each race, as soon as I release my "official art" loading screens, probably today.

If you want you can check out last years final update, it's pretty close.

Oh no, I'm going to old season mods, not doing 2010/2011 mods. ;)

The calculator at F1Virtual is my work, let me know if you find it useful ;-)

Prblanco it is exactly what I was looking for! Thanks so much for making it. If I make this stuff public I will give you credit, it's made my life much easier.

I have allready published realistic performance files based on actual results, all way back to season 1994, and i'm doing it also for the current season.
Unfortunatly, i don't have much time to keep doing older seasons.

As far as i know there are no performance files available for seasons older than 1994, so it would be good for you to do those older seasons.

You have to take the engine power into considaration, so you propably have to adjust the physics also, to get real laptimes!

If you want I have "real time" stats since 1990.

I'm currently working on the 1983 season for Pedro's amazing mod, and I'll do 1982 and 1984 after that. Was also going to look at the 1991 mod and see if that was done on a race-by-race basis or general as well. Not sure if I'll make it public though, I'd have to chat to Pedro first before that happens.

I'm currently using data from F1db.com, which is very good.

I think that the driver who won the most races should have the best performance values or not ?

Happy racing from Germany!!!

The fastest driver (Vettel in Qually) gets the highest value, but it is Webber who has been quicker so far in the races, therefore he has the highest value...

The range or Varience is for the final position, and of course Vettel is on top for the moment.

Red Bull is quite simple really, it's the rest of the pack where it gets interesting! I think my performance is accurate.

Let me know what you think...

Webber never was the fastest this year in races.
He has the most fastest laps this years, but the fastest lap time is not crucial for the race performance.
Calculating race performance exactly is quite hard to do.

Nevertheless it HAS been Webber who has put in the fastest times, but it's also true that the fastest lap won't win you a race and even less a championship...

I guess that's why Geoff added the "range or varience" along with the performance, to show consistency. That'll get you the title.

I've posted my performance values in my blog for Monaco today and you can compare them with other files that are not as precise (0.001% !!!). Have fun.
