now to something completely different:
did anyone ever realized that rear light bug with the most new shaped cars?
here some images to declare what i mean:

not working:

working:

not working:

working

so i don´t only got the effect, i also have to fix for all shapers:

do not map the brakeglow objects with the same texture than the rear_light_on object.
thats it.
simple, but it took me quite a while to find the solution... :)

so now i wish me for all new releases that all rear_light_on´s are working properly... ;)

Amazing discovery! I'm glad you resolved it. As you know I never knew why my cars always had working rear lights and other's not.
Isn't it strange that the original cars never had this problem?

so just simply map or the brakeglow or the rainlight on another texture... :| good to see this solved :)
I'll try it for sure ;-)

now we are on this bug path ;) anyone noticed some cars got "flashing" z_cockpit_visor's? on some parts of the circuits it just dissappears, don't think it's ment to happen?

nice find, i was annoyed because i never saw my rearlight textures on the aguris, as they took up a significant part of one of my texs! Thanks Matt

Yes I had the same problem (2k7).
Only the Williams had a correct brake light.

with tweaker you can move the glowing effect, not the rear_light_on object.

the default gp4 cars use the same texture (cockpit_damage) for brakeglows and rear_light_on, so i think it´s an z-modeler issue...

yep, i know about this z_visor flashing, but don´t know why this is happening, car or track related.
would be interesting if this only happens at "new" tracks or with the default tracks, too (if this thing is track related). maybe something with track-shadows?
same with "new" and default cars.

That's due to the brakeglow settings in gp4.exe. You can adjust it with gp4tweaker.

errrmmm Maikel, could be my fault no ??.....
Could be the position of the rear light object.
Anyway, I decided to prefer it with the rear light bug.
:) :) :)

Thanks for the tip Matt but it kills my preference to have only
ONE tex file for a car. It could be cool to share this rear light on
texture for all the new cars done or to be done like the carbone texture
used by some cars

could be also an option to use the good old cockpit_damage.tex for the brakeglows.
oh, or the car_interior.tex by dahie.
all shapers could also agree to use one new texture for the brakeglows.

That's a issue last for a long time.

for z_cockpit_visor's problem , my solvetion is simpliy copy LOD 0 to LOD 1 , that's why all my cars don't have LOD1.

Many years ago I have already made a suggest that regular the texture usage, but no one listened. Also the framework of a season system. In that's way, I will also save system rescource. So finally I decide to make a 2000 MOD all by one to prove it.

@ shueyfan:
it´s not the brakeglow settings, it´s the rear_light settings.
for changing this with gp4tweaker you have to change the values of

[REAR_LIGHT_AMBIENT01_POS] in the rearlight.ini.

you also have to set the

AmbientPos = 0 ; set to 1 to enable rear light ambient position tweak
to 1 in the gp4tweak.ini

@enzojz:
the z_visor flashing i (and i think mdbsnake) mean it´s only for lod 0.
for example in t-cam or other car cam´s. sometimes the visor is just disapearing, then comming back.
did you solve this with leaving lod 1 out. or do you mean the track-cam´s, when changing the lod´s ?

@schroeder

that because the games is changing between LOD0 and LOD1 when T-Cammed, you can have a test.

At least I have never found the same problem after I used LOD0 to overwrite LOD1, and I have always found the problem before this.

Sorry for the misunderstanding. Matt is right, I meant rear light settings ;-)
