Hi, folks :)

The Imola 2006 hi-res update is finished. You've probably already seen a few screenshots in my WIP thread so this won't be a big surprise ;-)

Big thanks to Ricardo Lampert (and his team) who gave me authorization to create this update the way I wanted. Ricardo was so kind to give me an unlocked .gp4 file for a few graphical changes and bug fixing. This way I think I could improve a few things.
Good news for all the peoploe having low-spec computers. Ricardo plans to use the updated .gp4 also for a new version of his Imola track so that you can have the updated graphics, too (of course in standard resolution) :)
But at first Ricardo has to cocentrating on putting up his homepage again.
So please be patient.

Here some detailed information:

Title
Imola 2006 hi-res update
Authors
Ruboy
Description
high resolution texture update for GP4 track 'Imola 2006' by Ricardo Lampert
Thanks to
Ricardo Lampert and his team for letting me modify the .gp4 (border line)
jpmfw/Paolo (2006 pitbox textures, beta testing and screenshots)
TTM (photorealistic sky)
HoldenRT (photorealistic sky)
schumi_15 (beta testing and bug report)
lee1971 (beta testing, screenshots)
fast_alonso (beta testing, screenshots)
Mini Maestro (some hi-res textures, beta testing)
Caelen (some hi-res textures)
Nuno Espadinha (no "R" replay logo)
Duffer (Replay Controller 1.0)
and last but not least Lo2k (3DEditor) who made track editing possible for GP4.

* CONSTRUCTION *

Base
Imola 2006 by Ricardo Lampert and his team
Software used
TexResizer 2.4, SlimTex, PSP 7, PictureIt 7.0, 3DEditor
Modifications
-.dat file (physics)
new kerbs at Variante Alta chicane
smoothed left runoff area (verges and banks) at Variante Alta chicane
original split time positions
new JipMappings
changed black flag areas
-.gp4 file (graphics)
updated Variante Alta chicane (kerbs and runoff areas)fixed mapping of some textures
adjusted clipping distances
updated pitboxes with Paolo's pitbox texture's
hi-res textures
-adjusted .col file
-edited track.bin for displaying two different colours of tarmac

Known bugs
- some disappearing shadows on tarmac
- flickering tribunes at Tosa curve
Known issues
- 2005 Vodafone logos
Build Time
3 weeks (october 2006)

And here some screenshots by jpmfw/Paolo, and fast_alonso (Rob) :)
Click onto the thumbnails for enlarging them.

And beneath some pictures of the modified Variante Alta. You can hit the kubs now without jumping extremely. I also smoothed the left runoff area. When you brake to late and you have to cut the chicane you don't damage your car or spin anymore - this way a small mistake cannot be punished to hard. If you cut the chicane too fast you'll get a drive through. You can cut it, but you lose time - I tried to make it realistic. And don't hit the right green strip where the old kerbs were - it has no grip ;-)

* IMPORTANT !!! *

This is only an update. You NEED to install the 'Imola 2006' track (v1.0 or newer if available) by Ricardo Lampert and his team first before
installing this update. You can download 'Imola 2006'' at [www.gp4db.com] or [ricardolampert.drivingitalia.net].

DOWNLOAD at [www.gp4db.com] .
Thanks to Tony for hosting.

PLEASE READ the gp4form.txt file to install this update correctly and for further information !!!

Have fun and I'd like to see some screenshots in the screenshot thread soon :)

Martin

@schumi_15:
Please check your mail. Sorry for late reply, but I've been extremely busy with personal life the last days.

@TTM:
Really? Don't know this format. I am just uploading the files for the hoster so I cannot have an look at it.
Btw, I have one suggestion concerning the .dat file of your Monza project.
Will tell you soon.

It is sooooooooooooooooooooooo good! It is the best hi-res update ever made for GP4 and it is one of the best tracks I have ever driven on. I love the change from dark to light tarmac.

Is it possible to move the finish line back, just like in real life. Cus i cross the original line in high 1.26's and low 1.27's. But the realistic one in 1.22's n 1.21's. Can it be done?

You can't do that because of the .col file. If you moved it back then the pit garages and stuff would move back aswell
