Renault's Fernando Alonso took pole position for the 2006 Australian Grand Prix ahead of Ferrari's Lewis Hamilton and Toyota's Mark Webber, setting a blistering time of 1:25.842. Honda
Great effort from Massa, that's 8th! Sutil should have some more pace though, he's honestly not matching Massa's pace.

BMW Sauber
Great quali for us with Ralf starting 4th tomorrow and Nick couldn't turn his luck to a good one so he starts 13th, which that hopes us a good race for tomorrow, but anything can happen.

Super Aguri
It wasn't great quali, at least Speed was so close to the pace of other cars but unfortunately it wasn't good enough. We said previously that Super Aguri says that catching up cars from back of the field is really hard. Best thing tomorrow for the race is we may play a patient game until something dramatic happens.

Toyota

Extremely happy to see Mark get third in his home race. Hopefully he can convert it to a race win. Still some improvement needed for Jenson.

2006 Australian Grand Prix

Hello and welcome to sunny Melbourne, the host of the third round of the F1 championship. Yesterday, Fernando Alonso took pole position in the Renault ahead of Lewis Hamilton's Ferrari. Can the reigning champion convert pole position into a win to kick start his championship or will home town hero Mark Webber take the spoils? Lets go dowen to the grid and find out.

5 lights and away we go!

No major dramas on the first lap so here's a look at the standings.

Ralf Schumacher runs wide and that lets the Red Bull of Juan-Pablo Montoya through.

Lap 3 and Michael Schumacher has a look down the inside of Jarno Trulli

Contact!

Trulli is off the track and Michaal Schumacher is facing the wrong way

Massa has nowhere to go and plows into the Ferrari

Schumacher is out and Massa will need a new front wing

Massa will have a lot of work to do to match his 2nd place finish in Malaysia now

Schumacher only has himself to blame after hitting Trulli

Now Sato spins! It's all happening

He tries to rejoin but spins into the wall!

He's out of the race. Morgiman will be furious

A look at the standings after 10 laps. Alonso still leads

Montoya dives dowm the inside of Raikkonen

He's into 4th

Glock looks to get by Sutil

But it denied by some great defensive driving by the Honda man

Sutil undoes all that work two laps later by spinning on the exit of the first corner

That drops him down to 17th

A train is beginning to form behind Trulli

Fisichella is through past Button into 8th, the cameras have missed that one

It looks like it's going to be a pitstop race between Toyota, Williams and Toro Rosso as Button, Fisichella and Coulthard pit

Button is out ahead of Fisichella

Coulthard couldn't quite beat Fisichella out of the pits though

The race leader is in now

The pitstops haven't beneffited Jarno Trulli, he's lost a place to Jenson Button

Alonso rejoined in 5th, behind Lewis Hamilton!

Montiero has a problem

A loose wheel ends his race

Webber is in. Looks like a one stopper for the Aussie

He rejoins in 5th

But Raikkonen takes 5th on the next lap

Now Montoya is having a go, Webber is really struggling

Not this time for the Red Bull driver

Stuck behind Mark Webber, Juan-Pablo Montoya finds himself under pressure from Button

A terrible corner for Toyota! Montoya is through past Webber and Trulli passes Button

Button now in 8th

A lap later and it's 9th, Heidfeld is through

The German is on a charge and is now 7th after passing Trulli

Heidfeld dives down the inside of Webber who locks up

And takes 6th

Trulli dives down the inside of Webber

Disaster for Toyota! Button spins

Now Heidfeld too! What a shame for the BMW driver

He's now 11th ahead of Button

Raikkonen has an electrical problem! He'll pit to get it fixed.

Scott Speed spins on the final lap

And his teammate retires with a suspension problem

Hamilton wins the Australian Grand Prix to take his maiden F1 win

Alonso is 2nd

Ralf Schumacher 3rd

BMW Sauber
Great day for our team, Ralf gets another podium on his list and Nick finally gets the points. Although there was a big mistake for Nick, which is a spin that threw his chances to have a great result, but he gets the job well done to hold on in top 10.

Super Aguri
Nothing quite dramatic changed, but the day couldn't get worse for us as Karthikeyan with another mechanical problems. Speed finishes 18th and we leave no points so far.

Get in Lewis, awesome drive mate, awesome drive. Let's take this momentum into the next race!. We don't know what happened to Michael yet, whether it was his own mistake or a problem that caused the mistake but we'll have a further look into that.
Honda
Trash race.
fandericciardo3 check your pm's please :)

Activity check

I have just completed an activity check from the posting of the first session of the season. We unfortunately have one manager who has failed to post in that time.

Thor553 - Mclaren - Last Post: N/A - 1st Warning

Mclaren will therefore be deducted 10 WCC points (In effect from after the Monaco Grand Prix)
Toyota

A disappointing race for us with both drivers struggling for pace in the second stint. Onwards to San Marino where we hope to be more competitive.

Wow.. just as annoying as his win in Monaco.. did he pit in at all? Cant quite load the pictures on mobile internet so cant tell

Latest News

Unfortunately Casssp has decided to resign from his position as manager of Red Bull Racing. I will take over in the interim unless there is anybody who would like to take over? Any interested managers please send a pm :)

Edit: I can confirm that Toro Rosso manager MDBSnake will be taking over at Red Bull

Albeit very short at the reigns with Toro Rosso, I am very happy to be guiding Red Bull forward as well. I am looking forward to this challenge ahead! My main focus will be going towards Red Bull, getting to know the team and the people. But I will push with both teams to achieve maximum results!

If you are racing, keep on racing and get some points!
