problem with tyres 96 (solved) and Imola 93 crash (solved too), thanks Tom

Posted by quickslick
can anyone tell me what's going wrong here with the tyres? i've nothing changed for the season 96 and got white tyres for Mclaren and Footwork. Thought it would be an error with the performance file, but no matters what i change there, nothing happens. Another problem is, Imola 1993 crashes as soon as gp4 loads the track for the mod from csm. I've tried Imola 1993 in standard gp4 and there it works without any problems and now i'm a little bit confused. Here's a link for the gpxload of Imola and a pic of the tyres for the season 96 mod

Go to Data\GPxPatch, open the gpxset.ini, search the part with [PerfManager], and add this line: PatchTextures=0 . That should do the trick. I think it's caused by the latest gpxpatch version, both McLaren and Footwork have a 2 in the tyre part of the perf file, thus have the McLaren prefix. However there's no McLaren tread, thus they're white.

Oh yeah, I know this problem. You must check the references in your performance file. You pointed GP4 to threads which number isn't set right in the performance file, respectively the treads you/GP4 want to use are missing in the cars.wad.

@kedy89: Wouldn't it be a solution to change the 2 in the performance file to a 0 or 1 as well? ;)

But then you'd have to change 16 or even more files, as csm mods come with trackspecific perf files most of the time.

thanks Tobi, it works perfect now(Y). I've changed every single performance file already ;), but nothing happened. And now with the added line it's all perfect.

Which Tobi? ;) Me or kedy89? ;) I didn't know about adding this line, I'm using CSM only about one time a year, that's when I'm trying out a new CSM mod. :-) But great that one of your problems is fixed now. (Y) But the other problem.... Can you send me the Imola 1993 track please? I have to look at something inside the wad-file that may cause your problem. Please tell me also in which slot it should be running. Is it also slot 4 like in the original game?

yep i meant kedy, but good to know that your name is Toby, too :) and i didn't knew something about this line aswell. The Imola track is from the trackpack 1993 of Ploddek and Cleberpister and it's for slot 4 like the regular Imola track. Here's the link

p.s. danke für deine Hilfe :)

Ok, the files inside the wad are looking ok. Maybe the problem is just the fact that the wad is called "imola1993.wad" and not "imola2001.wad"? Just try this renaming please. ;)

i've renamed the wad and then tsm can't find it anymore, so the wad won't be load in tsm

Well, that's why I don't use CSM/TSM: Strange errors in a row. ;) Maybe somebody else has an idea?

If you rename thw wad you need to open this folder:

.....\Infogrames\Grand Prix 4\Tracks\1991 Imola\1991\settings.ini

And change the load line:

Wad=imola1991.wad

To load the file name that you change.

@Kerley, it's for the season 1993 ;), but now i've changed the line in the ini file aswell as the wad itself and the track still crashes straight if it starts to load in gp4

Then the track's wad might be faulty. Please try it without CSM/TSM and tell me if it works then. :-)

the track works without tsm/csm in gp4, like i wrote already in my first post. What i don't understand is, that the track with csm crashes immediately, when gp4 tries to load it. I've tried already different settings in gpxpatch with verbosity levels, or cpu settings in gpxset and nothing helps :(

Oh yes, you already said that, sorry! ;) Maybe CSM is faulty? I'm a little bit glad that I'm not the only person who gets one strangest error after another! ;)
