I do not know why your CSM is not working but just to let you know...
I never start by dbl clicking the .cuh file but tried it just now & see the same error as you

But if I start CSM normally all my mods work

Not sure what you mean about saving in a special folder to load into CSM?
It should be as usual in your C:\Program Files (x86)\Grand Prix 4\GPSAVES\Carsets

Then you can accept the default name CSM wants to use while installing ....which is what I do...
or give it your own name...But yes it has to be saved there...Which I see by your error it is

If you mean before that then no I have installed carsets from any location such as desktop or downloads etc.

Do you have multiple installs of GP4 on your hard-drive? Just curious if by some chance the GPxPatch being called
upon by CSM right before sim starts could be the wrong one? That is the only thing I can think would at that point load a stock GP4 2002
If everything else is there & where it should be

Your antivirus software may be stopping CSM from working, it is a common problem, search this site for more info.

Sorry, I'm not very good in german... :) I can't understand the message you got, but like flying said it is possible you're pointing to the wrong GP4.exe
If you have only one install, then you got a problem with it or your CSM install, but as I can't understand the message you got I can't help you more at the moment (not saying I could be able to if it was in english, french, spanish but still worth a try)

Neither am I Eric ( literate in German )
But it is teh same message I get if I try a direct start

It says " There was a problem sending the command to the program"

But in my case if I close that error window message the CSM stays open & then can be started normally

Hi again,

I attached some screenshots to show were my downloaded mods are installed and what CSM is using for a default folder...
In my opion this should be okay as it now is, but please let me know when you observe a mistake ;-)

@ Tom: I'm currently using G-Data as antivirus, normally I have to disable the so called "Live-Guard" before I start CSM. It seems to me that especially
the "cmscore.exe" is hunted by G-Data, and I had to restore this file a couple of times from my quaratine folder.

Okay, some questions :
- is it Vanilla game or stand alone game ?
- if Vanilla game did you patch it the way it should be ? : game > patch 9.6 > GPxPatch > set compatibility winXP for GP4.exe
- did you try to run the game without CSM (basically meaning Vanilla) and did it worked ?

I'm not quite sure about the meaning "vanilla game" but I did the following:

- I installed the game from my original cdrom
- I patched it to 9.6
- then I overwrote the original gp4.exe with the decripted one
- installed GPXpatch 4.23 & set it to comp. mode XP SP3 and run in admin mode
- then ZAZ Tools were installed

Everything without succes,.... then I did :

- deinstalling the previous gp4 incl. all files & folders + registry clean + reboot
- I downloaded the whole game incl. patch & decripted .exe from gp4db
- installed Gpxpatch 4.23
- installed ZAZ tools again...
- used CSM to install the 2006 mod & tracks,...

The tracks are now in the game, cars unfortunately not...

Vanilla game = Out of the box (so, what you have :) )

- installed GPXpatch 4.23 & set it to comp. mode XP SP3 and run in admin mode
Comp. modes are more important for GP4.exe. You didn't mention it for GP4.exe but maybe you have done this too ?

Another question : one GP4 install or multi installs ? You didn't answer to this one if I'm correct.

And it would be nice to have the full message in english, I got the feeling that what flying have translated is not the complete message but a shortened version of it, but I could be wrong 'cause I can't understand a single word of the sentence except 'Programm'. ;)

Ahh okay,...so the Vanilla one is the cd-rom version...(I)

- Yes, the gp4.exe is set in WinXp SP3 comp. mode too...
- I have currently only one version installed, the downloaded one.

The failure in windows says (my free translation) "an error has occured by sending the command to the programm"

Your antivirus is the problem.

Agreed with Tom. Antivirus dislike ZAZ tools for some reason.

Yeah, I understand...the weird thing is that I put all "infected" files as well the ZAZ folder on the excetion list in my Antivir program, but this seems not to fix the problem.
I will deinstall my Antivir and see what will happen then ;-)

Is there any possibility that Win7 might block the program as well? By any security setting or so ? I'm quite new to Win7 and it surprises me everyday...

I think you already took care of it by setting compatibility
to run in XP mode sr3 & also run as Admin

There is only one other thing I have seen with Win7
That is the first time you run any GP4 installs it asks a firewall allowance question
I have forgotten what it is but I just click allow & never am asked again

Sorry to hear your having such a tough time of it & wish I had some answers to give you.

Gentlemen, finally it works !!! (H)
All I had to do was to deinstall my G-Data Antivius software,... :-(
Even when the ZazTool incl. all files were in the exception folder G-data was stillblocking the csmcore.exe.

But now all cars are white,... :(
