Tires float above track when viewed from trackside cam

Posted by flying
Hi all,

Can someone tell me if floating above track when viewed from trackside cam
has to do with my graphics settings/resolution
or is it something I need to use an editor to tweak?

Not important to enjoyment but just curious as to cause & fix
Thanks for any tips

Either the wheels aren't centered (-> wrong y-coordinates) or the ride height is incorrect.

Well, it's a Red Bull and you know what they say about Red Bull. ;)

So being that it is the AI cars I am looking at
would I use something like GP4 tweaker in sim to fix that?

Thanks
Yes, you can fix that with tweaker or team editor.

If it's wrong coordinates, then you have to adjust them with tweaker.

Ok thanks guys I have both tweaker & team editor & will
try it. Although I have not used either before I have backups
of all my stuff so if I pooch it no problem

Thanks
If this problem only appears at this silverstone-track or only at this special corner, it might be a problem with the track. In Barcelona, for example, you are also able to drive in the air when you drive the old corner after the back straight. This issue appers when the DAT-height and the graphic-height of the track are not in accordance with each other.

In this case you can fix this issue with the GP4-Tweaker for sure, but it would make the cars driving inside the ground on other tracks/in other corners. So, if the problem is track-related, I recommend you to ignore this issue and report it to the creater of the track ;-).

I had a look at that picture and seems that the left side tyres are the ones higher than the track.
So to me to fix you have to use Gp4tweaker or Team editor depending what mod your using.

As for the track im one of the original authors so i know the track is good.
For the STR9, check your tyrepos.ini settings into gp4tweak_data folder:

FrontRight = 0.7000, -0.2302, 1.2950
FrontLeft = -0.7000, -0.2302, 1.2950
RearRight = 0.7000, -0.2302, -2.1280
RearLeft = -0.7000, -0.2302, -2.1280

First, check the slot used for the Str9 (with TeamEditor, for example)
and don't forget to apply these values to the second car, also.

For others tyrepos.ini settings, TomMk made all the GP4Tweaker positions files for each car released, here: [www.gp4central.com]

What graphics settings are you using for shadows in the Options - Graphics - Advanced menu section?

No I see it at other tracks too
But does seem more prominent on certain cars
Here is Marussia at Imola

Hi

Yes thank you for the track !

I have your 2013 tracks & they are all excellent.
I could not appreciate them before I built a computer
But now I am able to see & use them all

Thank You very much for your work.

Hi Tom

I am using High on shadows.
I do see the tire float in both the CSM & laptop version so
I am thinking you may be onto something with the shadows?

But it does *appear* to affect certain teams more than others
as far as what I have seen.
Cars like Ferrari,Marrusia,Redbull,Caterham & Mercedes I have seen float

Lotus, Maclaren seem good & I have not looked well at others yet

Also thanks again for both 2014 releases they are great!
As I said in my original post I was more just curious while watching.
Everything is so nice sometimes I ride in another drivers car & use the
x & c keys to look at cars from cockpit view as they go by hahah :-)

Anyway here us my graphics panel from laptop mod
I do not know why it says no object in mirror as I have all objects

Here is graphics from my main GP4 folder which runs the CSM mods

Thank You Excalibur that is good info

I think I am going to view a bit more & try
to see which cars are affected
But thank you for those coordinates!

jc one thing I can confirm now it has nothing to do with the track
because if I run this track with stock GP4 cars all tires are fine..

I do have one question for you if you dont mind....
I am curious why when I use the track in stock GP4 program
the track resolution looks a little grainy but in CSM mod has much finer resolution.

I wondered why because I thought the CSM mod is run from that stock
GP4 directory so I assume it uses the same graphics cfg file?
Is that correct? Or do they each look at their own settings elsewhere?

Here are the two samples
One from stock GP4 which seems lower resolution
The other from CSM which looks like a higher resolution

Thank you

Edit: Ok I found the solution

Some of my GPxPatch's were loading a Tarmac Bitmap ;-)
without it then I see the nice track

This is a tweak problem , nothing else . If you are running a CSM MOD , check if your cars are the same of those of 2014 Tom's MOD , then copy the same coordinates set by him . Otherwise you have to figure out by yourself .

Thank you

But all of them are when I run Toms new 2014 laptop edition & his 2014 CSM edition
So I am just trying to see as it is probably? something on my end
as the settings are his stock setting I did not change them

I do not have the wheel float in
my stock GP4 or 96 CSM, GP4Forever 2013, FSone 2009 etc.
So was just curious

Thanks

I don't think it is a tweaker problem, actually I think it is an optical illusion - the rear tyre shadow is not being drawn correctly to the base of the tyre, and so it looks like the car is floating.

1) Using the Laptop Edition first, set the f1graphics.cfg first line to "0" - this gives full control of the graphics back to the GP4 menu instead of reading it from f1graphics.cfg.

2) Load the Laptop Edition and set the Shadows setting to "highest" (not just high).

3) Now exit the game and set the first line of f1graphics.cfg back to "1".
