hi guys,

I have the SAME problem.

I have had to format my PC, & of course install EVERYTIN slowly slowly ALL OVER AGAIN! Of course I cannot NOT install GP4 or even FS9 / FSX as simulators!

I have just installed GP4 from CD, & now 'trying' to install GPX Patch 3.93 & proceed with the installation.

I have encountered a problem when trying to "run the updater" & also when trying to "run patchdownloader"

I have disabled my firewall, in case I have a conflict, & still no success to continue with installation!

I am attaching 1 screenshot with the 'result' of when I try proceeding with the above!

It is no the 1st time that I have had to un-install & re-install GP4 all over again, BUT this time I am having problems, to proceed further.

When trying to Download 9.6 patch - nothing happens... normally I used to see a green line, showing the download & installation process!

It seems like there is NO CONNECTION for the "updater" & "patch downloader" after installing GPX Patch.

I cannot proceed further... For me ZAZ TOOLS, CSM & TSM worked miracles for me, thanks to Ron - ZaZ!

If ZaZ & his partner have had a baby, that is understood, perhaps quality time with the family as priority!

Hopefully ZaZ is back to help us sooner or later!

I have no clue how to install the rest, CSM/TSM made miracles for me, & it was very user friendly!

Can anybody please help? or if anybody can get in touch with ZaZ??

Just for info this is not my 1st time doing a re-installation, GP4 +CSM/TSM worked perfect, even though I have Windows 7 64Bit as OS..........

I have also read the other thread ->>>

ZAZ Tools CSM TSM Problem

& it seems many other are facing a similar problem connection to CSM servers....

Thanks

Don't you have to install 9.6 patch previously to GPxPatch ?

hei Eric & all above, thanks4yr posts..

But did not understand you, about "installing 9.6 patch previously to > GPxPatch"- what exactly do you mean by this?

Still can't keep going ahead unless ZaZ perhaps is back with us :(

It means you install gp4, then the 9.6 patch, then gpx-patch.

hi everybody,

it seems I either misunderstood the few who replied to my posts, or else I did not explain myself clear enough, with the consequence that I could have been misunderstood.

I have also installed no CD Patch, but due to the problems that I had explained in my original post, I am unable to continue installing my favourite GP4.....

IS THERE ANY OTHER WAY, where or HOW I can install Mods or Trackpacks WITHOUT ZaZ GP4 Tools - CSM/TSM ???

I have a feeling I will have to say BYE BYE GP4................

Anyone can help me please?

Thanks you.....(O)

Hello pippo46!!
Let the "principle".
Installed your GP4, make a backup to a directory you created.
Leave the folder Program Files / Infogrames / GrandPrix 4 an original version installed, work on the copy.
Do you know how to install GPxPatch 3.93., With the direction to be where copy.
Please test to verify that it works perfectly in your GP4 folder copy.
CSM have to be directed to copy this folder.
I believe this to eliminate most of your problems, or at least cause less serious problems.
The error must be happening to me, but in my folder copy of Grand Prix 4.
It is simple to solve this.
Delete the file gp4.exe and put a new one in place.

Olá pippo46!!!
Vamos do "princípio".

Just to be sure, you need to install it in that way :

GP4.exe > 9.6 patch > no-cd.exe (replacing and renaming as GP4.exe) > GPxPatch > CSM/TSM

If you can't use ZAZ tools (I guess you can't get EasyWad as well), take a look here at realgpx.com, you can find some other tools, for instance WadUpdater.

Celinho & EricMoinet,

thank you for your reply & assistance.

I have un-installed everything & RE-INSTALLED (or rather TRIED TO) everything all over again.

This is the sequence I followed yesterday, which was upon advice from a GP4 EXPERT.

1-Install Gp4 770mb

2- Install patch 9.6 (patchGP4 5.45MB))

3- Gp4.exe 1.02 (NO CD)

4 - Run the game and exit saving the settings!!

5- Install Gpxpatch 3.93

6- Install Zaz tools final

7-Reboot PC

When dioing the reboot you need to Open CSM

and to File menu - Options

uncheck 'autoupdate'

enter in the File Association
Enter their and click on everything

All this - IN VAIN & to my bad luck UNSUCCESSFUL!

Previously I had installed & uninstalled GP4 + Addons (Mods & Track Packs) + ZaZ GP4 Tools SEVERAL TIMES, & NEVER I have encoutnered this kinda problem. From what I'm reading & trying to understand, as ZaZ 'Server' or 'FTP' is perhaps not online, then some important files that are download DURING Installation are not found, thus hampering a successful installation!

I appreciate all of your assistance as you are more experts than myself as a regular GP4 user, but it seems like I am not too far off by saying 'BYE BYE GP4'... unless perhaps ZaZ can come & solve the issue.....

Thank you all once again.......(O)

In the past I've messed up my GP4 folder and uninstalled everything deleted folders and then re-installed everything only to find that i still have the same problems. The ONLY way I could solve the problems was to uninstall GP4 and delete all the folders off the hard disk. Then create a NEW folder in a DIFFERENT location to the previous copy then install GP4 into that folder.

I.E. Old install was in C:\Programme Files\Infrogrames\GP4\
New install was in C:\Games\GP4\

I dunno why but it worked!!

What is V1?

pete-21

I did exactly like you advised, installing in a different location, but still NO SUCCESS!

However I tried installing everything on my laptop.. On laptop I have Windows Vista as OS, & an expired Norton anti-v. LUCKILY CSM 'responded' & managed to install a MOD.

So, I thought, perhaps My AVG Anti-v is the problem on my main PC.

So I proceeded to un-install my AVG anti-v from my main PC & I also un-installed everything AGAIN, & re-installed (TRIED) everything again.... = still no success.

So there must be some mysterious file causing me problems & thus hindering me from a complete & successful MOD Installation!

Now to go back to what mortal posted in his 2nd part of the post, I have not attempted to get there,as I still have to understand & get replies for my previous 2 posts! I am a Windows 7 64-bit user! Am I correct to set compatibility mode to Windows XP Service Pack-3

Thanks to all, I WISH I can have this solved.........(O)
