I'm also curious ... right now I´m preparing a notebook and do a clean install ... possibly be a windows 8 enterprise x86 version. later, I will answer it if it works or not ;-)

It seems that your setup doesn't like your screen resolution or something like that

Solution: REMOVE windows 8 :)

No idea yet, its just released, not much feedback available at the moment !

wow, you really think so? remove? hahaha ... BB? is a challenge ;-)

I believe that the proper solution could well be studying a little more ... this is what I will do. here grand prix 4 works with GPxPatch tool in windows 8 enterprise x86 PT-BR
the notebook hardware is pretty weak ... core2 duo, 2gb ram, intel 965 express video graphics ... you can not do much with it (for testing only). soon install the other tools (CSM/ZaZ GP4 Tools and etc ...) and some screens

I have read that you can kiss gaming goodbye with W8. Use an XP partition.

Maybe some incorrectly supported resolution/anti-aliasing method in your graphic cards settings:
>> The queried multisampling technique is not supported by this device.

You might disable anti-aliasing/multisampling in the control panel of your graphical card.
I'm not sure it's the only problem though.

Kimi, so, Massa Fernando Sebastian is faster than you. Can you confirm you understood that message?

@EricMoinet
I've tried changing the resolution in the graphics cfg, but no change

@bigbrother
I actually really like it!
Takes some getting used to, but i'm loving the experience so far.

@phantaman
Let me know how you get on, i hope i'm not the only Windows 8 user here haha

@Lo2k
I'll try changing settings on my graphics card.
Come to think of it, i didn't actually install any drivers :s
But i've tried a few games like Borderlands and Skyrim, and they load and play fine.

Hopefully there's a solution, as i don't want to say goodbye to GP4, or install a seperate OS just to play it!

Give a try to this one mate. Same kind of problem in GP3 forum between GP3 and winSeven. It seems that re installing GC drivers solved the problem.

yes ... course work. when I said "finetuning" was in relation to becoming owner of the folders and apply permissions of writing, recording and deleting files (for GP4, tools csc zaz gp4 tools and gp4builder) follows more screens ...

Will do when i get home, hope it solves the issue, that's been the only downside for me so far in Windows 8, not being able to play my beloved GP4!

Excellent Phantaman!

What do i need to do to make it work?

update all drivers and give permissions write/recording/deleting in the folders/subfolders (Infogrames, gp4builder, csm/zaz gp4 tools) and become owner of these folders also

and there was no need to put anything in compatibility mode (Y)

So i think i've managed to come to the bottom of this, not completely fixed but still better than nothing.

With my previous OS upgrade from xp to vista, i was able to simply just copy the GP4 folder, change compatibilty and run the game.

Not in this case.

I ran my current GP4 installation, (working perfectly in vista) and it kept crashing.

So i changed the graphics to run in windowed mode.

I ran the exe by itself, and the game ran no problem.

When i used gpxpatch, it was saying that there was a problem with directx, but i had recently downloaded and have the latest version.

Luckily, i always keep an untouched default GP4 installation, so i decided to test on this.

I installed gpxpatch to the default GP4, it worked with compatibility, and no directx error :)

This again was in windowed mode.

But, it doesn't like when i change it to full screen :s

So i've nearly fixed it, just have to get it to work full screen now!

@phantaman, the ownership of folders didn't work for me i'm afraid.
