Yeah I read that, F1racing are about as reliable as The News of the World though, and none of the other sites have mentioned it...

But yeah if true, don't really care, and not surprising.

Remember them saying Doornbos would race for Red Bull at Monaco??

That's about how reliable this site is.

As of now the light at the end of the tunnel is switched off -untill further notice- The Management.

again its about a dutch group buying the team with Paul Stoddart running it

I don't believe that Midland will ever make it in F1. I still believe strongly that Eddie (Jordan) did a much better job than the Midland owner now.

Even in bad times Eddie overruled Midland now.

But would it improve if dutch people bought the team? Well, I'm a Belgian and it would be good if we could see a Belgian driver in it. Although I think they wouldn't go that far. They love their own Dutch drivers to much for that. (it never went well between Belgium and Holland)

What about David Saelens? (who is kicking ass in the Porsche cup for the moment...) Bas Leinders isn't as fast as David I think.

Anyway, it could improve the sport if and only if they can invest more in the team than Midland can. Otherwhise they are just trying to buy a ship that is sinking.

Midland were always doomed for failure. There are no GP enthusiasts in the whole of the team except the drivers, and even their dedication is questionnable sometimes (ramming each other at Monaco).

I wouldn't mind them disappearing completely.

yep, this was inevitable. trouble with millionaire/billionaires is that they just want a new "toy" to spend their money on, and F1 is ideal, but they soon get bored and we hear stories like this.

as others have said, they do nothing for F1 and wouldn't be missed.

When Jordan sold to Schnaider i predicted this, i was told that it was a ridiculous notion, and that the Russian wouldnt have gone into this as a hobby.

i'm with you there, i also didn't have faith in RedBull, but as others have said, they are involved with lots of sports, and have shown they are committed to F1 (at least for the near future), so I was wrong about them.

It looks like he really is selling. :) Apparently he's "wrestling with his conscience" - pffft. It is on his conscience that he has deprived millions of racing fans of an F1 team with any worth? That he has deprived an enthusiastic privateer team from entering in 2007 because Midland took up one of the 12 allotted places?

Just sell the team, get the hell out of F1, and don't let the door hit your ass on the way out!

Im not a fan of midland but some people talk alot of bollocks tbh

It is on his conscience that he has deprived millions of racing fans of an F1 team with any worth? That he has deprived an enthusiastic privateer team from entering in 2007 because Midland took up one of the 12 allotted places?

Oh rly? Saved Jordan from death. Without him, Jordan would have died a quick, but painfull death and went the way of Arrows. And who exactly did he stop entering F1?

Midland was NOT for sale. Someone made an offer and now hes considering. And lets be honest, even if you loved F1, and you were running a team at the back of the grid and someone came and gave you a healthy offer than you'd no doubt make a profit from, are you saying you wouldnt consider it?

but he didn't save "Jordan", he bought them and made a team just as crap as Jordan were in their final years, with probably double or triple the budget. the name Jordan is dead anyway with the sale of the team. yes it gave the old Jordan team members work, but he hasn't saved "Jordan".

I didnt say he saved Jordan. I said he saved Jordan from death. Which is different

Jordan was going to go down like the titanic. It would have been embaressing and upsetting to watch as even teams like Super Aguri could get on the grid, and Jordan had to close up shop.

Midland saved them that embaressment. And fine Midland arent exactly the nicest team in the world and dont really have much personality, but Eddie Jordon sold out. Ron Dennis sold to Mercedes. Frank Williams sold to BMW, Jackie Stewart sold to Ford, BAR sold to Honda. Did they get stick for it? NO. Why? Because at the time it was the right thing to do.

Now Midland boss says hes CONSIDERING it because someone came to him and made an offer and suddenly everyones attack him? Get a grip people.

Dave, read posts in context. As a fan I expect every team who comes to F1 to bring SOMETHING with them that adds to my enjoyment of the sport. Teams like Renault (example) may not have much personality, but they've got their own character now thanks to the likes of Mike Gascoyne, Flavio Briatore, and their reputation for fast starts - and the fact that they'er the World Champions, so can obviously build a good car.

At the other end of the scale you've got (example) Jordan, Minardi, Red Bull, Stewart. They bring bags of character to F1, in one way or another. Something to make you cheer when they do well.

Midland, on the other hand, appear to bring nothing. There's no characters in the team (even Johnny Herbert doesn't seem as enthusiastic as I remember him), there's no personality, there aren't even any results. They exist seemingly solely as an expensive means of promoting their brand name.

As for depriving a team from entering F1, it was barely 2 months ago that we discovered that 12 applicant teams were all vying for the one available slot in F1 2007. Even if only a third of these were serious and capable, that's still 4 teams going for one spot. Three had to be let down - the likes of Stoddart or Jordan, who WOULD bring something to the sport.

At that point, Schnadier had the option to announce that he did not want to enter F1 2007, and allow one of these other new teams the chance to take up a second 'free' slot in the sport, but he did not. This is how he deprived a genuine enthusiast from being in F1.

Finally, I don't know where you get the idea from that we are 'having a go' at Schnadier. I think that the vast majority of this forum is 100% behind him selling the team. The reasons we offer for this support are listed nicely in this thread. If someone offered me a substantial profit on a back-of-the-grid team, of course I would take it, and I would encourage Midland to do the same.

Now; if you would like to highlight the parts of this argument which you consider 'bollocks', I would be happy to discuss them further.

As a fan I expect every team who comes to F1 to bring SOMETHING with them that adds to my enjoyment of the sport.

What? As fan i expect them to bring 2 cars, 2 drivers and get on the track and drive. If you EXPECT character than perhaps soap operas are what you should be watching. I watch motorsports for the MOTOR SPORTS, not the characters or personality. If they bring that, then thats cool. An added bonus, but i certainly do not expect it.

At that point, Schnadier had the option to announce that he did not want to enter F1 2007, and allow one of these other new teams the chance to take up a second 'free' slot in the sport, but he did not. This is how he deprived a genuine enthusiast from being in F1.

Im sorry but thats rubbish. Why should he pull out just to let someone else in? Is there some sort of rule, or agreement, that says you must let someone else into the sport if your not a fan favorite?

And Eddie Jordan was NEVER going to get a team together for 2008, nevermind 2007. Paul Stoddart would have flopped, again, too. Midland at least is stable and has shown no sign of finanical difficulties, or stuggles.

Finally, I don't know where you get the idea from that we are 'having a go' at Schnadier.

midland are a joke.

but then you say such stupid stuff as:

and even their dedication is questionnable sometimes (ramming each other at Monaco).

I guess when Mika and David accident collided at Austria in the McLarens, there dedication suddenly became in doubt? How on earth can you take an ACCIDENT and manage to twist it into questioning the dedication of the drivers!?

Your entire point is based around like every potential team should have some sort of preference over Midland. Why you think anyone should have preference over midland, i dont know.

People bitch theres too many big companies in F1. So we get a private team, and people bitch hes not a pure motorsport fan. Guess what - nor was Mr Benetton, yet nobody complained about there team. You really think Toyota are in f1 because Mr Toyota is a big F1 fan? No. BMW? No. Mercedes? No.

I cant belive you actually suggested Midland should pull out just to let others in. Thats just stupidity.
