Hey there.

Pretty awesome what we get to see from Bottas and his helmet camera. Great stuff to see the start from a driver, no matter which place he is. Sadly they show only 1 or 2 scenes in a complete race. So my question is: Is there any feed or whatever so one would be able to watch the whole race from Bottas' point of view? This would be just epic, watching a complete race like one's sitting in the cockpit.
Greetings
Silverman

unfortuantly not :-( FOM have alwaysbeen really stupid when it comes to onboard cameras, the cars have 5 designated positions for cameras but only 2 of them are ever used, the helmet cam they only use when they feel like like it, at its always the same angles fron the same cars (its only ever vettel and alonso with the side of cockpit angle) the nose angle from lewis this year is the first time the nose cam has been used since 2011!

and going back years they would fit cameras to various cars then never ever show any footage from them!!!!!!

Point of amusement - I was flicking through the official 1990 season review book, which has a forward by Bernie. In it, he praises the 'new on-board camera' technology, and laments the lack of use by TV directors throughout the season. The cameras were fitted to four cars in each race.

IIRC, didn't the F1 Digital service have brilliant on-board facilities? I seem to remember reading that viewers could select them manually? Did anyone have this mythical service?

Bernie was correct in the past when we had a different host broadcaster for each race, where it was down to its own director what cameras got used. But during the days of his own Bernie-vision, there was no excuse, the picture below shows a camera Giancarlo Fisichella carried during most races in 1998 but not a single shot was ever shown from it! The digital coverage that year from an onboard camera perspective was dire, endless shots with hakkinen and schumacher but precious few from any other onbaord cam.

You couldn't chose which onboard to view from but you did have an "onboard channel" just like is available today where you see the race purely from the onboards but again at the mercy of which cameras the FOM director wanted to use (i.e. very few!)

I heard all about the "Bernievision" service and saw some shots from it too(Like in season review videos etc). Never got to actually use it, but definitely knew about it.
IIRC the 2002 United States GP used the live feed from it.

The features of F1Digital+ were on the review DVDs that came with Formula One 2001 and 2002 on PS2.

Here's a nice video of F1Digital+ coverage of the 2001 Malaysian Grand Prix.

No commentary - that feels weird.
Love the team radio though: "The car's @#$%&, get him in the T-car!" :D

And heres some extremely rare F1 Digital footage from 1997 which features all the selectable channels onscreen at once!
