Sure your not tom walkinshaw? he's probably lost his drivers too by now I reckon they're probably down at the pub. Could be trackside or maybe just hanging around pit-lane . Or you could look at thrustmaster.com. Doh!by mortal - Grand Prix 4
maybe it's an arrows man? rumour has it that it's costing Tom an arm and a leg for those cosworth'sby mortal - Grand Prix 4
xp! it figures, are we still praying for a patch or what? I gave up trying to get it to run on xp, just couldn't quite get it right, yet it runs great on 98se, curiouser and curiouser It's definately a drivers issue, try running it through gpx_patch, set debug mode and verbosity to low and see if you get a error log file generated on a forced exit. Worth a try, I finally fixed it by aby mortal - Grand Prix 4
Have a look at the system properties for the usb hub and make sure that it exists, check the usb port with a known working device such as a usb camera or usb scanner etc. Visit the Sidewinder site and check if xp drivers are available, Igor is correct, it should not need drivers and can be hot plugged as well. Check the directx with dxdiag and see if the device exists in the input profile, checkby mortal - Grand Prix 4
I take it you are using the Damian Legros sound editor to insert the file to the gp3sound.dat file. Extract the file you wish to replace and view its properties in goldwave or wavestudio or similar, I haven't done any sound editing in quite a while but I think it's 16 bit unsigned pci wave stereo format, the 22050mhz rate sounds about right, you can also save your edited wave file in thby mortal - Grand Prix 3
Vader, the system must have eaten it older drivers, hmmm, I'm back on 98SE and I think I got the 23.XX's installed but hey, I can soon change thatby mortal - Grand Prix 4
does it ever get any easier?by mortal - Grand Prix 4
too late, card bought and installed, downloaded latest driver set 52mb, I have 3d and eax but still unplayable ;-/, guess it's on the shelf till infogrames bring out a patch. Meanwhile it's back to f1_2002.....by mortal - Grand Prix 4
Thanks for that, I got myself a live 5.1 for A$79, the gp4 sound calibration gives me eax, but not 2d or d3 acceleration. No difference to the PO hit and still unplayable. Damn, oh well, there's always hope that the cfg file will come good , I put some flags in to the cards.txt to force 16 bit, I'll test it later.by mortal - Grand Prix 4
looks very nice Habi but it might be out of my price range, I'll check a local wholesaler tomorrow and see how much if its availableby mortal - Grand Prix 4
Have we finally run out of steam, or dare I say it.....spam And in closing, I will point out that we are all genius, clever dicks, smart asses etc. P.S. did jawwad solve his problem or is he out to lunch for a spam sandwich (ouch)by mortal - Grand Prix 4
Well, it seems that I need to get a better soundcard, the Vibra128 just can't cut it, I suspect that I need hardware support to reduce the PO hit on the cpu. So, what is the best way to go, the Creative 5.1 says on the box it has EAX support but does it actually work? What about the Audigy Entertainment (I am on a budget) Is this any good? What actually works and does reduce the po hit by giby mortal - Grand Prix 4
Hey Cheers and thanks for that, I'll give it a go, but I suspect an upgrade is in order ;-/ I'll let you know how it goes, will test later tonite if I can get the time. Onya m8by mortal - Grand Prix 4
I've poked and pushed, pulled and prodded, cajoled and even begged it to get up and go but it refuses to give me a PO under 400 at race start. I've tried every cfg file known to mankind and it still refuses to get up off its lazy arse and run. Do I have to get a 4x4ghz to pull this thing out of the mire. Oh well, looks like I have to park it up on blocks and drag out the (dare I say it)by mortal - Grand Prix 4
LOL, like I said b4, any excuse!by mortal - Grand Prix 4
Have any of the wizards out there created a gp4 cfg file for a crappy P2, I have a geforce2mx400 with 64mb on it but it still runs like a pig. I did get it running once, no mirrors etc but I just had to fiddle with it and it's useless again, any help appreciated TIAby mortal - Grand Prix 4
How to quit GP4 in 7 days.......Will this patch stop the withdrawal symptoms or do I have to go cold turkey? Do I have to apply a new patch every day? Can I get this patch on a subsidy from my local pharmacy or do I need a prescription? I'm already well past my (sic) breaking point just trying to get this heap of code to run, I suspect I will need anti-depressants as well as a patch. And laby mortal - Grand Prix 4
HAHAHA any excuse......!!! Here, have some more spam, get it while it's hotby mortal - Grand Prix 4
Wouldn't you be better asking Rene this question in the SDI forum, if anyone knows about updates, additions etc. surely it would have to be the man himself. A link to the gpx patch home page is in the html help filesby mortal - Grand Prix 4
Can either one of you please translate this text for me please. It's all a bit frustrating really. Is it worth installing? Hier ist mein fertiger Ferrari, in der vorerst fertigen version. Aah, Hagar the Horrible still raping villages and pillaging virgins, or just hanging out at the local tavern? My suggestion is that you use an earlier version, test 2.21. 3.02 is mainly being used for gp4. There's no guarantee that this will work either but it's worth a try, it's all I can think of for now.by mortal - Grand Prix 3
try another version of Albert Park-Melbourne and test againby mortal - Grand Prix 3
I have to agree that the gp4 AI is a huge improvement on previous versions, I never used to be able to do nose to tail racing with such precision, they seem to have just the right balance of aggression and strategy. I'll probably never play gp3 or gp3_2000 again although they run a whole lot better than gp4 does, if I could just get mirrors in gp4 ;-/ A bit hard to defend your possie when yoby mortal - Grand Prix 4
Most OT's are pretty much marked as such, but sometimes we do get a bit carried away don't we Still.....you gotta laugh......by mortal - Grand Prix 4
Multiplayer is LAN only, internet play is not really supported in gp3, some code was written in but it's pretty useless. It is possible with gpx_patch, but extremely difficult and due to data transfer problems it can take up to 5 minutes for the lights to go green and another 5 minutes to get to the first chicane at Monza ;-/ This is a hot topic in the Forum Archiv, well worth a look.
