I forgot to mention that turning off 2d and 3d sound gives you a good boost as well. The sound still functions fine so if you really need it it's an additional option you have to play with. Disabling sky messages saves you a tad as well.by mortal - Grand Prix 4
If your system wishes to make use of this file, the very first line must be set to 1, otherwise gp4 will use its "in menu" settings. (default is 0) therefore this file is currently not being loaded by gp4. Read the superfast gp4 thread by Nuno. Make relevant posts on this topic within that thread. Change the setting, run gp4, how is it nowby mortal - Grand Prix 4
you should have kept this in the same thread , and qwerty is right but it does state in the original thread that the change forces 16bit.by mortal - Grand Prix 4
Ok I think that when you enable pitcrew on hi-res it is possible that it uses up some memory somewhere wehen the environment loads in to ram or it hogs an address somewhere or other therefore using up system resources. It is difficult to say exactly why it does this, it's just that testing on some machines seems to prove this effect. This happens on my machine and the same occurs on anotherby mortal - Grand Prix 4
Yes pit crew detail has a huge effect but I assumed that this was a well known fact, set the crew to minimum detail, let's face it, you're there to race not watch the pitcrew in hi-res, any gain is a good gain, I will be testing the draw detail distance settings posted by Geoman later to see if I can tweak more. And do not install install the patch if your version is running ok. You wilby mortal - Grand Prix 4
Look, they already have the bug list, one of the most important issues is xp and it's failure to run properly on it, this issue has not been fixed in the so called official patch, what has been fixed are minor gloss over issues that do not really affect performance. As has been said before gp4 was rush released because ea released their 2002 version, if Crammond had his way it would not haveby mortal - Grand Prix 4
Study the original post, (superfast gp4) it is really easy to edit the file using notepadby mortal - Grand Prix 4
like they are interested ;-/, when are you going to wake up Boomy that IG don't care about you or any of us either, they have our money, that's what they care about, they will likely release an update in 2003 and make us pay for it, it will be called gp4_2001 addon, sounds familiar doesn't it.by mortal - Grand Prix 4
LS The first line in the f1config.txt must be 1, (0 is the default off) 1024 ; Game 3D Horizontal Resolution 768 ; Game 3D Vertical Resolution 0 ; Enable 32bit mode if available NB. If Windowed then is forced to desktop format (0 forces 16bit mode) 1 ; Enable hardware T&L if available 0 ; Run in a window If it's still slow reduce the screen res references to 800x600 (4 lines in allby mortal - Grand Prix 4
Wake up and smell the roses, they don't give a rat's ass what we think! They already have our money. It's also likely that this will be the last of the series. And as for petitions etc. it's a waste of your valuable bandwidth. They don't read them or respond to them, and they do not visit the forums either. Crammond does not even have an internet connection or an email adby mortal - Grand Prix 4

Edited the wad file, downsized the textures and renamed them all, followed the instructions in the first post. Set config file to 0 and gp4 ran like a pig with huge PO rate. Exit and save then opened config file to see the auto performance, low res and high res lines had changed. I reset to 153 and low 0, high 0, the values before the calibration, I set the res to 800x600 in the hope I'd getby mortal - Grand Prix 4

Yes I can't quite get my head around it either lol, Also see Kev's post to me about the wad file tex changes to get even more speed. I'll be testing later but now I'm off to do a few laps of my local supermarket with a trolley. With a bit of luck I'll get a good start and won't get held up into the first turn at fruit n' veg , the chicane at the checkout can beby mortal - Grand Prix 4
excellent, I'll have a go at this later Ta m8by mortal - Grand Prix 4
Success? hahaha, gp4 has the rather entertaining property of performing differently on every machine, a config file supposedly set up to rock on one machine can run like a pig on another with similar specs. Your os is a huge factor as well as different driver and card combinations. I have tried just about every driver and some make gp4 run like a pig and others make it fly. the decrypted exe is here "re_installing the software after the patch" what? is this a total re_install? did it do an uninstall when you re-installed? The data3.cab problem has been seen b4 on the forum. Get the new exe and test again, it's an os problem and a conflict with safedisk somewhere.by mortal - Grand Prix 4
hahaha good one, zimmer frames! That's very good info about the tex files. Did you use gp4master to complile the wad, can you maybe post a detailed "how to" on this in a new thread as some users including myself are not that familiar with wad editing being used to gp3 and it's jam file editing system. Cheers.by mortal - Grand Prix 4
Can you maybe clarify this, which value exactly is set to 0, is it the enable 32 bit mode? If so It's pretty usual to set this to 0 on low end machines anyway, that way you can force 16bit rendering although this really only helps the card somewhat and not the cpu. Also the bit where you mention 640x480, do you mean the in-game graphic config menu? Why would you ask for a test when the f1conby mortal - Grand Prix 4

Sadly to say this is old news. It's been the same since the Crammond GP series started. Nothing has changed and nothing ever will. Don't hold your breath eitherby mortal - Grand Prix 4
.....welcome...... High Gear is not a patch on this forum, we have had our fair share of wankers before and the usual rule here is to ignore them. (ludwig? another waste of bandwidth, please don't make me laugh, I'll go along with Nuno)by mortal - Grand Prix 4
