F1 Challenge - Random AI Slowdown

Hi! Long time since I posted here.
I was wondering if anyone knew what caused random slowdown of the AI around certain tracks? I'm using the F1 VB mod and so far have experienced this on two circuits: 1991 Monaco & 1995 Montreal.
To elaborate: It seems that after a few laps, certain drivers will start taking corners extremely slow and dropping about 5-8 seconds per lap. There's no mechanical issue whatsoever and no other factor I can think of that would cause this, it just seems completely random!
Hopefully someone else has had this issue and knows a fix, so please let me know if you do!
