Big news! Today Sony has officially started selling the PlayStation in Brazil!

PlayStation 2, by the way. Only a 9 year delay ;). They however sell it for about $120 dollars more than at any other store that imports it, and $160 more than any other stores charge for the PS2 Slim!

PS3 has no date set but at least they offer PS3 games.

How about that, good going Sony, you won't reclaim any of the pirated market with your prices being even higher than the already steep $100 dollars charged per game by retailers!

Bond - "A PS3 in Brazil? You mushht be jooking."

Pathetic, and I'm not talking only about the lines above. I mean, there is what, a Brazzillllion Brazilians? ;) Surely there is plenty of market there for the taking. Not like Brazil is some tiny little country with absolutely zero dollars.

The Flanker is gone. :(

Gui, with the PS2 you are now able to play every Final Fantasy game up to X-2. :)

...Or have you already played them? And if so, how the £$^% did you manage that?

I live in the US, Locke :P. Only Final Fantasy games I own are IV and VIII, 4 only because it was in the Chrono Trigger pack for the PS1!

Brazil is a large market but it's vastly dominated by pirate games. Rich kids and middle class people get their console somewhere, have it unlocked and then spend $10 dollars in pirate games instead of paying the steep $100+ for official ones. It only gets worse because the official ones only go up in price. The big companies should treat Brazil like they do China, only way I can see them beating piracy.
