I guess alot of UK viewers have heard this.

Basically this guy predicted the lottery numbers, and correct and revealed them seconds after the numbers were announced. He revealed them after, because its BBC's right to be the first to read out the numbers or some blahblah stuff.

Anyway, basically, your thoughts?

Real or not? Did he really predict the numbers? He will on Friday reveal how he did it.

My thoughts? Well im generally quite open minded, but my theory, well before announcing to the world I guess he would have tried it a few times, each time, why not buy a ticket. He'd be a mulit-millionaire by now! So, if it's real then he could have done it before, and could do it again. I dont think he's done it before, and I dont think he can. Fake.

My grandpa (may he rest in peace) once told me to think of a number between 1 and 20 and say it loud. I picked 4 and he told me to look under the TV remote control. And guess what - there was a piece of paper on which was written "I knew you'd pick #4".

Turned out that he had hidden bits of paper for each number between 1 and 20 all over the place before and just had to remember where which number was. Might be a similar trick here.

LOL Vader :D

The common theory is one put forward by metro that there's 2 shots of the balls, one overlayed on top of the other, changed during a rather coincidental camera shake. There's a clear difference before and after the shake (the ball on the far left as you look is higher afterwards).

Basically it's just a camera trick.

Thats pretty funny Vader. Might try that one day, perhaps when I too am a grandpa lol! I can imagine it going very wrong though!

Gav, just a camera trick is what I thought, but if he's got another show where he explains it then its a HUGE anti-climax. He was sweating and shaking quite alot during the performance, I guess easy to put on but id like to think theres more to it than a camera trick. Especially if he's going to explain himself.

The guy is an expert in manipulation ;-)

It is more than a some visual trickery (have a read of that article), but in the basic sense, that's what that theory revolves around. Whether it's right or not you'll see tomorrow.

I didnt notice the change myself, only the camera shake, the image though is quite revealing!

If that's the case what will he say tomorrow? I cant imagine him letting down the audience and saying this. He also said you can try it at home :s! Sadly I dont think ill be in to watch it, but there will no doubt he reports on it afterwards!!

I think the show will pretty much have him discussing "number theory" for 98% of the show, then the 2% showing the camera trick.

There's absolutely no doubt in my mind that Derren Brown can do some amazing things without any manipulation or trickery. The guy's a genius!

However, due to that fact, it's becoming increasingly difficult to identify what is genuine and what is showmanship. The lottery prediction falls into that category.

Of course it isn't real. He is an illusionist. He specialises in tricking people.

it was essentially will power.

he got 24 people to think of numbers, then averaged them out.

they did something called automatic writing or something, where they didn't think of the numbers, just let their hands move and write numbers.

it was quite cool seeing them first get 2 or 3 numbers right, then the next time getting 4, then obviously the main lottery they got all 6 right.

it was kind of a kop out that when they did it the last time, he was the one to do the averaging, and didn't even show the 24 peoplle the numbers beforehand.

the best bit was when he got a guy to step on polystyrene cups, one had a knife in the middle, that was cool!

If that's his explanation we need a bigger BS flag. There is no way to get even close to predicting lottery numbers.

Am, sorry, hang on, if someone CAN predict what numbers are going to come out in the lottery, they just buy a ticket and win the lottery, right? How many times has Derren Brown won?

That was my initial thinking too.

You would have thought he'd be sat on some boat in the med somewhere!
