Hi all
I currently live in a flat, which is part of a larger house, and my internet is provided by my landlord as part of the rent. Recently, however, the speed of it has been horrendously slow, and i'm wondering if it's a problem with my setup, or whether i have right to complain about it. I've read through my contracts and there's no clause relating to performance. The main reason i'm reluctant to moan is that i'm deliberately breaking the T&C by having more than one machine online at once (contract says i'm only allowed one, which is ridiculous, as i have 2 PCs, an Xbox 360 and 2 laptops. I don't do any downloading (one PC is just a TV and downloads the programme guide, but obviously slow speeds are a horrendous problem when it comes to general browsing, checking e-mails etc.

Here are my speedtest results. any help appreciated

That seems like a horrendous speed indeed... 0,25 Mb (Megabit) download is the same as 0.03124 MB/s (Megabyte), as an example, here is mine:

That's nearly 5 MB/s download...

Yes but it is the highest package our provider has at the moment, though that's something around 75 euro's for Internet connection like that, digital television and telephone. With 5 Mbit/sec you would be more then fine, my 39 is only if you download alot. But 0.25.. yeh, that's way to low :P

If you are sharing the connection with other people in the building, the most likely cause is likely to be lack of available bandwidth, either due to someone whoring it all, or just too many people trying to use it.

You can easily rule out your end by disconnecting your 360 and all but one of the PCs, and running the speed test again. If it doesn't change, it's not likely to be you, and you shouldn't worry about having a moan ;-)

Yes, Australian broadband is indeed quite slow, by European standards in particular.

Luckily mine is faster than Mal's though.
