TBH pretty much any track from The Resistance could be released as a single, it's that kind of album. It plays like a rock opera more or less from start to finish.

Arctic Monkeys and Oasis among the best bands in the world? Really? Arctic Monkey's might have come on a long way since a couple of years ago, but do they still sound like a band for the chav collective?

Oasis, as much as I like them and own all the albums, are very poor live. I'm one of the few who reckon the last few albums have still be very good albums in their own right, but I was extremely disappointed with them live last year. Liam just can't sing live at all, and you can't be one of the best bands in the world if you can't perform live.

Can't say I've heard enough of the others to pass verdict.

Oasis split up, so surely can't be considered. If bands which are split up can be considered then why aren't bands like Led Zep, the Beatles nominated? And whilst we're on bands that actually changed music, the Rolling Stones haven't split up, but aren't nominated?

Q magazine is less about music, more about trying to be cool and alternative.

I always found them a bit hit and miss, songs like Hysteria and Plug in Baby are awesome but too much of their output is (for me) underachieving. It's not that they don't know how to write a blinding song, they just seem to choose not to.

I would, for you, recommend a band called Oceansize from Manchester, which ok are not even the same genre but who are more modern prog in a truer sense than Muse would ever claim to be but neither are they up their own arse as the likes of Tool or Porcupine Tree.

Loque is being the forum version of that "Music Generator" feature on Radio 1 in the mornings, where a listener phones in and lists their favourite bands and it spits out a new/unsigned(usually) band that supposedly sounds like a combination of said favourites. :P

Oceanize sound not bad BTW :D

Haha, I know where you're coming from.

Nah it's just that, y'know, I do love my music, more than anything. And with the general attitude towards rock music in the UK, the very best niche-bands never get popular. I always love bands who don't care about their own popularity and until they sold out Biffy Clyro were probably my favourite but Oceansize were great too and are probably less likely to sell out, at least to such an extent.

Meh,given that they are often referred to as "fellow contempories" it seemed fitting.

I thought Butterflies and Hurricanes was a good choice for that little montage lol.

And I am loving The Resistance, it's quality!

But Absolution is my favourite.

I feel very lucky to have accidentally caught a Muse concert last year as they played all songs I absolutely love, except for Bliss (which happens to be my split-favorite song... but it's forgiven). With the new album their setlist changed so much, I think the new album has good songs but it's something I'd like listening as background music to things/at places, not something I'll go buy. Black Holes & Revelations/ Absolution are my favorite albums and the 2 CDs I keep in my car, along with HAARP. I still haven't forgiven them for removing Bliss from that album!

just got back, and WOW! just awesome!

Couldnt believe just how great Matt Bellamys voice was until i heard it live, absolutely faultless, along with the sound reproduction from the studio

Tracklist was exactly the same from Antwerp

You gotta see these guys live!

Just mindblowing!

The stage set up was pretty cool also

Sounds awesome!
How was the lighting, LS? In all their gigs which I've seen on TV it's looked pretty mesmerising.
