Great post Muks! I've heard Telstar a few times, it reminds of the documentary on satellites which BBC4 have been showing every so often. But I never knew about George Bellamy! That's a great piece of info.
And yeah, you can hear some clear similarities with Knights Of Cydonia. Particularly at the start.

On the subject of Muse, did anyone else hear the live cover of Uprising by The Veronicas on Radio 1 this morning? Ouch.

In the Muse biography, Matt says that he wanted to do a song as a nod to Telstar that was his dads biggest hit, Dom the drummer said he was woken up in the morning on the tour bus to hear Matt inventing the signature riff on his guitar of Knights of Cydonia :)

Nothing but a bit of self indulgence on my part :)

I love part 3 of the exogenesis symphony by Matt Bellamy

Muse named world's best band in Q Awards

No offense to Muse, but they could produce the worlds worst album that even the most hardcore Muse fans on this forum would hate, and Q would still declare them the best band in the world. To be perfectly honest, looking at the list of nominees, not a single one of them deserved to be named best band in the world.

Maybe not best band in the world, no. But Muse and Kings of Leon are in a different league to the other 3, who are all massively overrated for the quality of music they usually produce IMO.

Well not entirely. I mean yes if a bad album came out it would get some stick but they've been able to get it bang on these days compared to the first few albums where they were seen as a misfit of Radiohead. They've detached themselves from that and are different. Although even in recent times, their work hasn't been that good. I mean look at remix of I Belong to You. It's pants compared to the original. But since it's for twilight I don't give a crap ;)
