There was no need for that post to removed. Consistency in the modding would go a long way.

If you don't like the moderation the only thing I can suggest is you go elsewhere :-)

Of course you are, freedom of speech and all that, wether we, as in all of the moderators, actually take any notice is another story. ;-)

Clearly by replying to me and telling me to go elsewhere you ARE taking notice, so I think I got my point across. *insert patronising wink here as if to say I am better than you*

I don't know what the hell is going on recently, but did you get dumped by a woman or something? You've been on a constant power trip, moderating posts and members which don't need moderated, as if to feed your shattered ego. It's pretty pathetic, but it's also pretty annoying when good posts get removed by the moderation team, just for the sake of removing them.

Moderate the good posts, but let banned members back in. Good to see things are being run well here.

I cannot stop the user going to an internet cafe or school, and re-logging in, if we block a whole ip range to prevent him coming back in other users may not be able to get in as well. I'm well aware the user you are talking about is back on site, I'm thinking about it, and for the record, I'm not the only one who moderates posts here :-) As for consistency, what may be offensive to one, might not be offensive to another, you'll just have to put up with it. :-)

And that's a big problem. People are too easily offenced these days. I assume Gavs post was a joke. Someone reported it and it got removed. Only because one person complained, it got removed. The people who tell 'offensive' jokes generally don't actually mean that. If I were to make a joke about how people from this and that country are all criminals, doesn't mean I actually mean that. People in 'this and that' should understand that, but no, instead are insulted. Everyone has the right to be insulted, but only if you actually have a reason to be so. People fail to see the difference between joke and insult. And that's why that post has been reported and therefore removed, because someone was easily insulted, apparently. People need to be more tolerant.

Joke? I scanned in Brnco's birth certificate. It's not my fault his mother wouldn't tell him I was his real dad.

Seriously, I don't know why the post was reported or removed. It wasn't offensive in any way I can think of (ie remember). He said I was a peasant, so I made a reply saying I'd send something via a means only peasants would know. If my post was removed, why wasn't his? Was I offending peasants by outing them as merely real people, and not the God-like figures they are in Warcraft?

I've scraped nicer things off my shoe than brnco.

Whilst I think about it, they were more intelligent too.

You dodged that point well, however not well enough. That is not what I said or asked. Why is the moderation not consistent? We have people who go through this forum posting purely abuse and it took months for them to be moderated. Then we have the slightly questionable jokes, which are also ignored (fair enough) and then we get a normal, unoffensive post, and it is removed? This isn't about what is offensive being inconsistent, it is about the moderators being inconsistent.

I was a mod before. It isn't an easy task. But it seems that 1 or 2 people are just on an ego trip here and removing posts whenever they feel like it.

I'm not the only one who moderates posts here

you have a private forum. Use it. It might be of some use to you in sorting out this place. But heres a small tip - removing non-offensive posts because you got a complaint is not how to sort it out. If thats how it goes then every time you post, I am going to report it as being offensive, and therefore it must be removed.

Apparently the post that was removed, referred in some way to 'child pornography', perhaps in its original context it was considered offensive enough to be removed by the moderator that did so. Had I seen it, I might have done so myself.
You are quite right in saying that it is a difficult job, I keep in mind that you can please some of the people some of the time, but not all of the people all of the time ;-). On this site people do not get banned on a daily basis, unlike some sites that seem to revel in it. I find it distasteful to do so.
I get numerous pm's asking me to ban particular users.......so should I name names, no I will not, but I choose not to listen instead. You can call that an ego trip, or call it whatever you like. ;-)
Also, due to time constraints, not all posts can be read to determine content, therefore the moderators are reliant on reports, if a report is not made, we may well be unaware of any abuse that is occurring, that may explain why some posts were or are not moderated.
Finally, with regard to brnco calling gav a peasant, and then having the audacity to cry to me over it via the pm service, I told him straight out that he probably asked for it. I have already told him once before you get back what you give out, it's karma. End of story.

The post itself wasn't offensive it was disgusting.
There is a difference between offensive and disgusting post, offensive post is offensive only to
the one that it is aimed to. Disgusting post is offensive to general audience. If I say "gav you are a peasant" than it is offensive to gav only and
it's original purpose was to offend gav. Gav's post was inapropriate for general audience because it
referred to things that are disgusting and above all illegal. Peasants are not disgusting and are not
illegal. I have nothing against insults, BTW it was I who started the whole thing with insulting people etc.
but we have to think about general audience. We are forgetting that minors are reading this forums aswell
and his post was not appropriate for those readers. You can insult as much as you want and it can be fun
for all, even for the insulted one. But you have to know where are the limits, not because of the one
you have just insulted but because of the general audience.

And I didn't cry over it to mortal because I was offended, I cried because gav posted disgusting post, and that
didn't got him banned. So I question myself will he ever get banned?

Nope ;). Banning is far too extreme in any circumstances, just completely out of question I'd say.

It mentioned paedophilia, not suggested it FFS. Are you denying a problem exists? You want me banned because I mentioned paedophilia? Cold War. Should I be banned for typing that and daring to hit the post button on these forums?

I never kicked up a fuss before because I'm not like that - I just accepted it - but if it was deleted because some narrow-minded member decided that only words fit for their eyes can be posted then I'm frankly beyond belief.

It's not like I said "Brnco, you are a paedo. You fiddle with kiddies." I'm staggered it was reported and astounded a mod removed it if this is what it was for.

9/11. Unless this is deemed inappropriate to post, I'm waiting the FBI to come and take me away.

Yes it is inapropriate to post things like that on this type of forum.

You can mention those things but not here where a minor can read your post.

Nobody is denying those problems exist, but they are not to be discussed here where the minors and even children reads the forums.

For God sakes gav that post was inapropriate for wide audience.

This is family forum you have to keep that in mind. If you want to discuss those problems go post it on other forums where those problems are discussed not here, not on gamers forum.

If a child turned on the 6 o'clock news these days he'd watch stories about paedophiles, war and things far more disturbing than Alice in Wonderland. 9/11 was broadcast live, and footage of the towers collapsing was shown on prime TV for weeks after. You can't wrap kids up in bubble wrap and protect them from everything giving the impression the world is a fantastically friendly place. It isn't, and giving that impression is a lie.
