I got a 1/20 Ferrari 310B a couple of years ago, but have never finished it. My awful painting of the main body parts put me off doing the small intricate bits. i might ressurect it though.

just got this yesterday, a 1/43 Focus WRC car, from I believe the 2000 season (it doesn't say on the box or under the car).

i didn't know Corgi made 'serious' models, i have only ever seen their 'toy' cars that the body looks good, but the wheels are way out of proportion to the car. this looks very good though. i've suddenly taken a liking to the Focus WRC cars, (even though i don't particularly like the road cars) after watching J. Clarksons 'Head To Head' dvd where Colin McRae races his '99 car round silverstone against a Ford Cougar and Stewart Ford F1 car with Herbert driving.

thin the paint down a bit to try to avoid the streaks. if its more runny, it should level off itself, and give less brush strokes when its dry.

i did a Subaru Impreza 1/43 a couple of years ago, and it looks sh*t! and my KITT 1/24 model isn't much better, with clumps of black paint all over, giving a really bad finish.

you just have to accept that unless you thin the paint (but it sometimes has little effect) sim, im a terrable painter, but you cant really tell on the photos, alternativly you can spray it, but that takes a bit more effort obviously!

got any pics btw?

@ LS, I was thinking of buying that JV 1st win model, but didn't in the end. Got the Hill German GP '96 Winner with the little figure of him standing and holding the trophy instead.

@ Andrew_S, have you looked at the AMD Models link in one of my posts above?> it has some nice reference pics of the lotus in case you need them for applying the decals.

@ Sasjag, for close up shooting, your camera might have a button on it with a flower symbol, for 'macro' photography. if you press it, it should set the camera up to take close-range photos. i always struggled with photos until i realised what this setting was for. now you can get up close and still be in focus.
