@msater - only just noticed your post

the background (complete with updating clouds and moving light/moving earth depending on preference) is created by a little app called desktop earth (i found it by google). The meters are rainmeter, and the dock is objectdock free.

Only issue i have at the mo is a lack of system tray (which is only a problem for those apps which insist on minimising there...)
