Anyway, moons ago I have been posting a thread on "false friends" you meet when translating things or words that do sound explicit in the other language.

- For example, there was this US allgirl metalband in the 80's who called themselves "Vixen". Funny name for a German, for it sounds like a word that describes manual stimualtion of your sexual organs.

- I don't have to discuss the expression on people's faces when you tell them "I do a lecture on KANT at Uni". If you pronounce the name of the famous German philosopher like we Germans do, it sounds like ... exactly what you are thinking about.

That makes me remember the two 17-year old exchange students from Vermont (US) who almost dropped down dead when they saw the commercials on German TV. Very true. Indeed in the USA it is impossible to see commercials or ads like the ones we have in Europe. I was there more than once and the most daring thing I saw was tobacco ad with the word "sassy". Like late night movies, here are porn, there nothing more than sassy indeed.

A very intersting thing happened to me in slovenia. Choosing a random restaurant to eat, i sat down and looked at the logo of the restaurant - It was called "habi" . I thought @!#$ habi must be taking over the world until on closer inspection i saw it was restuarant hubi
