Build a GP4 only desktop

Greetings everyone

Was not sure if I should post this here or GP4 section
( Moderator please move if you think it better elsewhere )

I recently moved to Asia from US & only have a laptop which at
2.4ghz cpu & 3GB ram & onboard graphics... does ok but of course at
reduced settings & mainly hotlapping as full field,weather etc is too much.

So I would like to ask for suggestions of building a desktop with budget in mind.
I want to only run GP4 so I am only interested in spec high enough to do so
with full settings/smooth graphics.

I dis want to use a Corsair 120gb SSD as i know it will make load times better
will it also help in sim at all?

With just running this sim at full settings what cpu & gfx card would you recommend
to keep prices reasonable?

I do have a good selection of parts available here
but was not sure on a couple things

Mainly if GP4 is mostly CPU heavy or GFX card heavy
That way not buy something that will not be of use to GP4

The original was cpu heavy, whereas the mods, particularly the hi-res mods, are gpu heavy, so a 3ghz duo, a quad core or an i5 and a gpu with ddr3 1gb will blitz it.

Interesting because I had been looking at
GPU's with 1-2GB DDR5

So a 1GB DDR3 would be quite a bit less


CPU wise I was thinking probably
AMD FM2 A8-6600K 3.9 GHz 4-core 4-Threads
Or
AMD FM2 A4-6320 4.0 GHz 2-core 2-Threads

Will try a reconfig at that pc parts picker you mentioned which is quite useful

CPU- INTEL 1150 PENTIUM G3420 3.2 GHz.... Dual Core, Dual Thread

MotherBoard- 1150 MSI H81M-E33

RAM- 4 GB RAM COMPUTER PC DDR3/1600 G.SKILL Aegis

SSD Harddrive- 120GB Kingston Hyperx Fury

GFX Card- MSI GT730-2gb DDR3

CASE- COUGAR SOLUTION BLACK - 1202392108

Power supply- CORSAIR 500W (CX500M) 80+ BRONZE

CD/DVD drive - Samsung 24x

I think it will be good for GP4 & will see today
Also I can upgrade as needed

Has exceeded my expectations
Runs great,loads fast & with everything enabled I have
a PO of 25 even with full grid using TomMK's new 2014 season

Very nice to finally have mirrors too

Always better to build your own, then you know what's in it.
