And now our leader, Kubica, is in…
He too goes with the wets and re-emerges in 3rd
Whilst Michael Schumacher, who pitted at the same time as Kubica, emerges just ahead of his brother
And they make contact in turn 3! A perfect display of brotherly love!
For once it seems as though Michael was completely innocent there and a potential podium has now pretty much gone as he rejoins 16th
Ralf however is not so lucky as somehow after spinning his car the right way with a bootfull of throttle he’s managed to wedge his BAR on the kerb!
Meanwhile Ralf’s team mate is in from what was the lead, has he done enough to jump Kubica…
And that would be a yes! Da Matta emerges from the pits as Kubica appears down the start-finish straight!
Villeneuve has also just pitted from 5th as he is now in 11th
Meanwhile Kubica has caught up to Da Matta very quickly and is looking to regain the net lead of the race…
They’re side by side…
And Kubica’s through into what is the net lead of the grand prix!
Somehow Schumacher has managed to ease his Toyota of the kerb at turn 3, however he is now three laps down on the rest of the field…
Meanwhile Webber, who is currently leading but yet to stop, puts in a new fastest lap
Raikkonen is in from 4th
He’s back out in 7th
Now Webber is in, where will he rejoin…
The answer is in 3rd! The Aussie has managed to jump Zonta in the stops and will be looking to push on from here…
Vettel appears to moving fairly slow…
And he’s pulled off the track with an engine failure to make it another double DNF for McLaren
Davidson has just pitted and is back out in 8th, if he can keep it on the road he should be on for a good points haul today…
However it's not as bigger haul as Arrows are currently on for as they have both drivers currently in the points
That’s Schumacher spinning at turn 7!
And the replay shows that he lost it on his own
Webber off! This could be nasty...
But no! Somehow he bounces of the barrier with no damage! Remarkable!
The track conditions are starting to improve as Raikkonen goes fastest
Until Kubica smashes his time moments later…
Villeneuve and Button are side by side down the home stretch…
And it’s Villeneuve who prevails
And now Coulthard’s off!
Looks as though he’s made contact with Alonso who carries on in 16th, whilst Coulthard’s does a Schumacher and gets himself stuck on the kerb at turn 3!
Anyway with everyone having made at least one stop, let’s have some standings
Massa having a look down the inside of Button…
And the Brazilian pulls out a banzai move to take 10th place
We have another slow moving car and this time it is Fisichella who is the unlucky one
And he’s out with a transmission failure
Coulthard has finally managed to dislodge himself from the kerb at turn 3 but, like Ralf, is now three laps down on the rest of the field
Sato is on the move as he is the next driver to pass Button, this time for 11th
Now Glock is trying to pass Villeneuve to make it two Arrows in the points…
And he has made it!
Now this is interesting… Kubica has pitted from the lead…
There doesn’t seem to have been any mechanical issues, it just looks as though he’s come in for a fresh set of tyres… could that cost him come the end of the race…
Coulthard, albeit three laps down, pops up with a new fastest lap
And that to me looks like a dry line is beginning to emerge, should Kubica have waited a few more laps before coming in…
Now Barrichello is looking to displace Zonta from 5th place
And the Arrows is no match to the straight line speed of that Renault
Massa is in, and it’s dry tyres for the Brazilian!
And Kubica is in for drys as well! Will that extra pitstop cost him…
And suddenly there is a mad frenzy in the pits as nearly everyone comes in for the dry tyres
And a lap later Da Matta is in from the lead, can he jump Kubica again in the stops…
And he does so easily! He re-emerges from the pits as Kubica is coming round the final corner!
Villeneuve is off at the penultimate corner!
Meanwhile Webber is in the pits…
And as Villeneuve rejoins the track Kubica is forced to brake heavily to avoid him…
Which means that Webber is out ahead of his team mate! That extra pitstop has cost Kubica dearly!
And whilst all that was going on Barrichello has retired with a transmission failure…
But that means that Da Matta is now out in front!
That’s Klien off at turn 1
Replay shows that he just slides off the track on his own…
He rejoins 14th
Sato pops up with the fastest lap of the race in his BAR
Anyway with everyone now on dry tyres let’s have some standings
Webber now holds the fastest lap which around a second quicker than Da Matta’s previous laptime… can he catch him before the end of the race…
The two Williams drivers are going head to head with Villeneuve looking to move past Schumacher…
But Michael has him covered
Webber is closing the gap to Da Matta very quickly, mainly thanks to traffic and Button in particular, and has just taken over a second out of him in last sector alone!
However a lap later Da Matta looks to have gotten the job done on Button…
But no Button’s coming back through! What’s he playing at?!
And that’s put Webber right on the tail of Da Matta!
And here comes the Aussie down the home straight!
And he’s through! Webber leads the grand prix!!!
But no! He’s run wide just moments later!!! Da Matta is back in the lead!
And Webber displays some tremendous car control to hold 2nd place…
And Sato is looking to put Glock back in 8th place
And he does so comfortably
Track conditions are improving dramatically as fastest laps start flying in left, right and centre
And Sato looks to be pitting…
It looks as though the rain has messed up Sato’s strategy and he was under fuelled! I wonder if there is anyone else in the same position…
Yes there is! Villeneuve and Coulthard are also forced to pit and rejoin 13th and 16th respectively
After a string of very quick lap times Raikkonen has caught right up to Kubica, can he pass him in the remaining three laps…
And he’s having a look down the main straight…
But the Red Bull seems to have a much higher straight line speed than Raikkonen’s Jordan
Whilst at the front Webber has caught back up to Da Matta! We could be in for a close finish here…
But Raikkonen and Kubica are side by side!
But Kimi can’t make use of the slipstream! Has his final chance just gone?!
However back out in front Da Matta has a fairly comfortable gap as he rounds the final corner…
And he wins the Spanish Grand Prix!!! But where are Kubica and Raikkonen?
There they are! Raikkonen is in his the Poles slipsteam!
It’s going to be a drag race to the line!
And it’s Kubica who takes the final podium position by just eight thousandths of a second!
Full results to follow…
